PlayStation, Xbox and Switch games: how to buy a disc or code well
The platform decides everything
A PS5 game won't run on an Xbox, and a Switch disc won't fit a PS4. So put your console on the first line of the request. It's also worth specifying the generation: some PS4 games run on the PS5 thanks to backward compatibility, but some PS5 editions need the PS5 itself.
Another important question is a disc or a digital version. A disc can be resold or exchanged, while a digital code is cheaper and arrives in minutes. There is also account rental (positions P2, P3), where the game is run from someone else's account. It is the cheapest, but this scheme has risks: the seller can change the password, and the game is not tied to your own profile.
What to put in your request
- platform: PS4, PS5, Xbox One or Series, Nintendo Switch;
- game title: exact, for example EA FC 24;
- new or used, and whether signs of wear on the disc are acceptable;
- format: disc or cartridge, or a digital code;
- language: whether you need particular subtitles or voice-over languages;
- edition: standard, Deluxe, Gold;
- quantity: one game or a set of discs;
- delivery and budget.
Example: “I need a used EA FC 24 disc for PS5 with no scratches. Courier delivery, Sydney. Budget up to $50.”
How to judge an offer
For a used disc, ask for photos of both sides and find out whether the insert and the access code for extra content are there. In sports games this code is often already used, and you will have to buy the online modes separately. With digital versions, ask whether it is a code for your own account or access to someone else's. Also check the region: some codes are tied to the store of a particular country.
Bundles of several discs are sometimes better value than buying one at a time, but make sure they include the games and the platform you need.
How searching works through BlaBlaPrice
Instead of scrolling through dozens of listings, create a request. Game sellers reply in the chat: what exactly they offer, the price, the condition of the disc, how they ship. They see where their offer ranks and improve their terms. BlaBlaPrice shows the one that is best on substance first, and seller reviews are visible next to it. Contacts stay hidden and are opened only to the one you choose. More on the page “How it works”.
Common mistakes
People buy a game for the wrong platform. They check only the cover, not what is in the box. They overpay for an edition they don't need. They also forget that without a subscription the online modes on consoles may not work. For that, see game subscriptions and account top-ups, and if you don't have a console yet, game consoles.
