Grave maintenance: who will clean, paint and send a photo report
Who it is convenient for
It is most often ordered by people who live in another city or abroad and cannot come on a death anniversary or remembrance days. It also helps elderly people who find it hard to work on the plot, and those who simply have no time for a big seasonal job.
The main thing you want to see at the end is not just “cleaned” but a clear photo report, before and after. Agree on this in advance.
What you can order
The basic set: clearing weeds and rubbish, sweeping the slab, washing the headstone, painting the railing or cross. Separately there is planting flowers, adding gravel or sand, looking after a flower bed, and cutting grass on the plot. If the provider buys the flowers, paint or gravel, the offer should show what that costs.
The work can be a one-off or regular: twice a year, before big holidays, or monthly in the rainy season and summer. For regular care the offers can be better value, because the provider plans the route and the time.
How to get offers on BlaBlaPrice
You write a request in your own words: what to do, at which cemetery, when and how many graves. You can add one photo of the plot. Before it is shown, the request is checked and you are told which details the providers are missing.
Providers in your city reply in the chat: the price or what it depends on, timing, what the work includes, and whether there will be photos. They can see where their offer ranks and often improve their terms. The best match by content is shown first, with reviews next to each one. Only the provider you choose sees your phone number. Read more on the “How it works” page.
What to put in your request
- What to do — clear weeds, wash the headstone, paint the railing, plant flowers, add gravel.
- One-off or regular — for example, twice a year.
- Cemetery and city — and, if you can, the section or another landmark.
- Size of the plot — a single or double grave, roughly 2×2 m.
- Materials — whose flowers, paint, gravel.
- Photo report — photos or a video before and after.
- When — for example, before a death anniversary — and budget.
Example: “I need a double grave cleaned at a city cemetery in Adelaide (about 2×2 m): clear the weeds, wash the headstone, paint the railing. I will supply the flowers and the provider buys the paint. I need photos before and after, done before the death anniversary. Budget up to $36.”
How to avoid mistakes
“Maintenance” by itself can mean anything, so in the offers look for a list of jobs, not one total sum. Ask whether the railing is painted after the rust is removed, whether there is enough time for drying, and whether the provider takes the photos himself on the day of the work.
Do not give a large advance to a stranger. Look at reviews and agree that the payment, or its second part, comes after the photo report. Send the location of the plot (number, section, photos of landmarks) in the chat, not in the request itself, because contacts and exact details are best not published.
If an old headstone can no longer be maintained, see headstones and memorials. Everything is in the “Funeral services” section.
