Custom bouquets: how to choose and not overpay
First decide what exactly you need
A bouquet is several decisions at once: which flowers, how many, what style and for what date. The price depends on them, and so does whether it can be delivered on time. Peonies in spring and roses in February are completely different stories in cost and availability.
Think about the occasion separately. A bridal bouquet is made to match the dress and the photo shoot, for a funeral people take classic mourning flowers, and for a birthday you can take a bright mix or even a bouquet of sweets or toys.
What to put in your request
A florist can't read your mind, so the more exact the description, the closer the offers will be to what you expect:
- Flowers — roses, tulips, peonies, a mix or a bouquet of sweets;
- Quantity — for example, 51 roses or a “medium” bouquet;
- Colour palette — white and soft pink, no red;
- Occasion — birthday, wedding, anniversary, festival;
- Extras — a card, a hat box, a vase, wrapping;
- Delivery time — date and window, for example “before 10:00”;
- Delivery address — city and area;
- Budget — if you want to name one.
Example: “I need a bouquet of 15 peonies in white and soft pink, in a hat box with a card. Delivery in Toronto, on Saturday between 12:00 and 14:00. Budget up to $51.”
How ordering works through BlaBlaPrice
You write one request, and florists and flower studios in your city reply with offers in the chat: what exactly they will make, at what price, whether delivery is included and a photo of their work. You don't need to call ten shops. Each seller sees where their offer stands, so they compete for your request on terms.
Your phone is hidden, and only the one you choose will see it. More on the page “How it works”.
How to compare bouquet offers
- Ask how many stems are in the bouquet and how long they are: “51 roses” can be 40 cm or 70 cm.
- Check whether delivery is included in the price and whether the delivery time is guaranteed.
- Ask for a photo of similar work or of the finished bouquet before dispatch.
- Find out whether some flowers can be swapped for similar ones if the exact variety isn't available.
Before big dates such as 8 March or 14 February, flowers get more expensive and few couriers are free. Order early and give an exact delivery window.
Common mistakes
People often name only a budget, with no flowers or colour, and then the offers are very different. They forget the recipient's address, especially for a surprise: check that someone will be at home. Another mistake is comparing price alone without checking the number of flowers and the wrapping.
