How to buy an FM transmitter for your car: offers from sellers
What an FM transmitter is for and who needs one
An FM transmitter plugs into the car's 12 V socket and sends sound from your phone or pen drive to a free FM frequency. Your car stereo picks it up like an ordinary radio station. It is the cheapest way to add Bluetooth and music to an older car that has no AUX or USB input.
Do not expect studio sound. The more FM stations there are in your city, the harder it is to find a clean frequency. So in Vancouver or Calgary you may have to switch frequency while driving.
What to decide before you buy
Most people want hands-free calls, so the microphone and the hands-free function matter. If you play music from a pen drive, look for a model with a USB port or a microSD slot. A display is handy for seeing the frequency and the car's battery voltage.
Look at charging separately. Many transmitters have USB-A and Type-C ports, and QC or PD fast charging lets you top up your phone while it runs navigation. What counts is the power in watts, not just the presence of a port.
What to put in your request
- Features — Bluetooth for calls, playback from a USB pen drive, microSD, AUX, display;
- Charging — type of ports and power, for example Type-C, 30 W;
- Voltage — 12 V for a car or 24 V for a truck; many models support both;
- Model — if you have already picked one, for example Baseus T-Typed;
- Quantity — one device or several, if you are buying for a fleet;
- Condition — new or used;
- Delivery city — for example courier delivery to Ottawa;
- Budget — if you want to state one.
Example: “I need a new FM transmitter with Bluetooth for calls, a Type-C port with fast charging and a display. My car is 12 V. Courier delivery to Ottawa, budget up to $17.”
How to compare offers
Devices that look alike can be very different inside. Check the Bluetooth version, whether the microphone has noise reduction, and whether the stated charging power is real. Ask about the warranty and whether you can return it if the sound hisses or lags on your car stereo.
Compare the same sets of features and count the delivery cost, because for a cheap device it makes a visible difference to the total.
How BlaBlaPrice helps
You write one request on BlaBlaPrice, and sellers of car accessories answer in the chat with a price, terms and delivery. The platform shows the best-value offer first, and reviews of each seller are visible next to it. Sellers can see where they stand among the others and compete, so the price often comes out better. Your phone number stays hidden, and only the seller you choose gets your contacts. Read more in How it works.
If the car stereo itself is really outdated, look at car stereos. For cleaner sound there are also cables and adapters, and the whole area is collected in car audio and multimedia.
