How to Buy a Pool for Your Home or Farmhouse and Its Accessories at a Good Price
Where to start when choosing a pool
First decide what you need it for. For children for a few weeks of summer, an inflatable pool is enough. For adults and several seasons, a frame pool is better: it is stronger, keeps its shape and doesn't mind someone sitting on the edge. Composite and in-ground pools are a permanent structure, built for years.
Then look at your plot. The base must be level and firm, otherwise the walls give way and the bottom cracks. A frame pool 3–4 m across needs more room than you think: you also need space around it for a ladder and walking.
What affects the price most
- Size and wall height: more volume means more material and a stronger filter.
- Filter type: a cartridge filter is simpler and cheaper; a sand filter cleans a large volume better and runs longer between changes.
- Brand: well-known makers such as Intex or Bestway cost more, but spares and liners are easy to find.
- What is included: ladder, cover, ground cloth, a water-care kit.
- Assembly and start-up: if technicians set the pool up, that is a separate sum.
How to write your request
A pool and its accessories are easy to mix up: without details a seller doesn't know whether you need just a pump or the whole set. Give:
- what exactly — frame pool, inflatable, or a separate pump, ladder, cover, heater;
- pool dimensions — diameter, or length by width, and wall height, for example 3.6×1 m;
- what is included — which filter, whether you need a ladder, cover, ground cloth;
- quantity — for chemicals: how many kilograms or tablets, for which season;
- brand and model — if you have already chosen;
- new or second-hand — and what condition would do;
- installation — whether you need assembly, levelling of the base, start-up;
- delivery city — and a budget, if you want to name one.
Example: “I need a new frame pool, 3.6×1 m, with a sand filter and a ladder, Intex or Bestway. Courier delivery to Toronto, I will assemble it myself. Budget up to $590.”
How to compare offers
The same model name doesn't mean the same kit. One seller includes a sand filter and a ladder, another gives just the pool with a cartridge pump. Compare the filter capacity in m³ per hour, the thickness of the wall material and the warranty. Ask whether a repair kit and spare cartridges are in stock, and how soon you can order them.
On BlaBlaPrice you don't call several shops: you write one request, and sellers reply in a chat with price, terms and delivery. They can see where their offer ranks, so they compete for your request. The system shows the best-value offer first, and seller reviews are right next to it. Only the seller you choose gets your contacts. More on the “How it works” page.
Common mistakes
People buy a pool without a ground cloth and cover, and then pay extra for both. They don't count the chemicals: chlorine, an algae treatment and test kits are needed from day one. They buy a filter that is too strong or too weak for their volume. It is also worth checking in advance where you can drain the water.
