TV accessories: wall mount, remote, HDMI cable, antenna

First decide what exactly and for which TV

A TV accessory is almost always chosen for a specific model. A Samsung remote will not fit an LG, and a mount rated for 32 inches will not hold a 65-inch panel. So the first thing you need is the exact TV model, or at least the screen size and brand. You can find it on the sticker at the back or in the settings.

When a request is vague, everyone replies with everything, and the offers are hard to compare. A specific request quickly filters out what does not fit.

What to put in your request

  • what exactly - wall mount, remote, HDMI cable, antenna, signal booster, stand;
  • TV model - brand, model or screen size it is for;
  • specifications - for a mount, VESA (for example, 400x400), maximum weight, tilt and swivel; for a cable, length and HDMI version; for an antenna, indoor or outdoor;
  • original or compatible - especially for remotes, where a compatible one often works;
  • installation - whether the TV needs to be hung on the wall or an antenna put up;
  • quantity, new or used, city and budget.

Example: “I need a swivel wall mount for a Samsung 55-inch TV, VESA 400x400, for a brick wall. Preferably with installation. Calgary, budget up to $49.”

What to look at when you compare

For a mount, the main things are VESA compatibility and a margin on weight. The wall matters too: plasterboard needs different fixings from brick or concrete, so ask what is in the box. A tilt or swivel mechanism lets you watch from an angle, but prices for it vary.

Cables are easier to get wrong: if the TV is 4K with HDR, you need a cable that carries the right mode, not the cheapest one. A long cable may need an active version, so ask the seller. For an antenna, work out where you live: in a city an indoor one may be enough, and farther from the transmitter you need an outdoor one or one with a booster.

How it works through BlaBlaPrice

You write your request once, and BlaBlaPrice checks it and passes it to sellers. They reply in a chat: what they offer, how much it costs, whether installation is included and how they deliver. Sellers see whose offer is best at the moment, so they compete for your request. The best offer by content is shown first, with seller reviews beside each. Your phone is hidden, and only the one you choose will see it. More in the “How it works” section.

Common mistakes

Buying a mount “by eye” without knowing the VESA. Taking a remote by its look rather than by the model number. Forgetting the cable length and where the power socket is.

If you are still choosing the TV itself, look at TVs, and for an old TV without smart features there are media players and TV boxes. A general overview is in the “TV / video” section.

Questions and answers

How do I find my TV's VESA?

It is the distance between the mounting holes at the back, in millimetres, for example 200x200 or 400x400. It is in the manual or on the maker's site by model, or you can simply measure it with a tape.

Will a universal remote do?

Often yes, but not always fully: some functions, such as voice control, may not work. In your request write the TV model and whether you need the original.

Can I order a mount together with installation?

Yes, say in your request that the TV must be hung, and give your city. Sellers will write whether installation is in the price and what they need to know about the wall material.

Does the buyer pay for BlaBlaPrice?

No, the service is free for buyers. A seller pays a small fee only when you choose them.
