Watch straps and bands: how to pick the right one and buy well
Start with the model and the lug width
A strap is chosen by two things: how it attaches and the width between the lugs. For classic watches this is 18, 20, 22 mm and so on. For smartwatches the fitting is often proprietary. Apple Watch 45 mm, Samsung Galaxy Watch and Xiaomi each have their own slots, so a “universal” strap does not always fit. You can measure between the lugs or look at the old strap, as the size is often printed on the inside.
Also say whether your watch has spring bars (quick change), screws or branded sliders. This decides how the strap attaches and whether you need a tool.
Material and clasp
Silicone and fluoroelastomer are practical for sport and water. Leather looks classic but does not like long contact with water. Nylon straps are light and keep their shape well. A steel bracelet is durable and needs resizing link by link, while a Milanese loop adjusts with a magnet and no tool. The clasp matters too: a classic buckle is simple, a deployant clasp protects the leather, and a magnetic one is quick to put on.
Give your wrist circumference so the strap isn't too short: S/M/L lengths differ between makers.
If the strap is for a fitness tracker, think about ventilation. Solid silicone can irritate the skin in hot weather, which is why perforated models exist. For the evening, leather or metal looks better, and for every day, fabric or silicone.
What to put in your request
- Watch model — the full name, for example Apple Watch 45 mm.
- Material — silicone, leather, nylon, steel, Milanese loop.
- Size — lug width in mm and your wrist circumference.

- Quantity — one, or a set of colours.
- Budget — if you want to name one.
Example: “I need a strap for Apple Watch 45 mm, Milanese loop with a magnetic clasp, graphite, wrist 17 cm. Ottawa, courier delivery. Budget up to $20.”
How to compare offers
The price gap between an original and a compatible strap can be several times, so say clearly what you need. Check whether adapters, pins and a changing tool are included, and whether the strap really fits your version of the watch.
On BlaBlaPrice you don't browse dozens of similar cards. You write one request. Sellers send offers in the chat: price, material, delivery time. The platform shows the best one first, you see seller reviews next to it, and sellers compete with each other. Contacts stay hidden. Read how it works on the page “How it works”.
If you want to change your style rather than the strap, look at costume jewellery or jewellery.
