Dental implants: how to compare clinic prices and not overpay
Why the "price of an implant" means little
A clinic's price list may show only the implant itself, but you also need a healing cap, an abutment and a crown. So one clinic looks cheap and another is "all-inclusive", and comparing them without clarifying is unfair. The first rule: ask everyone to quote for the same scope, ideally all-inclusive, meaning with the crown.
Treatment is planned by the doctor after an examination and a scan, so these are only pointers for comparing offers, not medical recommendations.
What affects the final cost
- The implant system: Osstem, MIS, Straumann, Nobel, Alpha Bio are brands at different levels and prices.
- The method: classic two-stage, single-stage, immediate loading, All-on-4 or All-on-6 when all teeth are missing.
- The state of the bone. Sometimes bone grafting or a sinus lift is needed, and that costs extra.
- The crown material: zirconia, porcelain-fused-to-metal and others.
- Extracting the tooth before the implant, if it has not been removed yet.
- The implant dentist's experience and the clinic's level.
What to put in your request
- Which teeth — the tooth number or jaw, how many are missing, a full arch.
- Method — if you already know, for example All-on-4.
- Implant system — or write that you are open to options.
- What the price includes — just the implant, or all-inclusive with abutment and crown.
- Bone condition — if known, whether grafting is needed.
- X-ray or CT — whether you already have one.
- When, city or area, doctor's experience and budget.
Example: “I need an implant for a lower first molar (36), Osstem system, all-inclusive with a zirconia crown. I have a CT scan. Central, consultation next week. An implant dentist with 10+ years of experience, budget up to HK$3,300 all-inclusive.”
How offers work on BlaBlaPrice
You describe what you need once, and before clinics see it, the request is checked: no ads or contacts. Dental clinics in your city reply in the chat: what they offer, the price or what it depends on, and when you can come. Clinics see their place among the others, so they improve their terms. BlaBlaPrice shows the best-value offer first, with reviews beside each. Only the clinic you choose sees your phone number. For the principle, see “How it works”.
What to ask before deciding
Check whether there is a warranty on the implant and the crown, and what it covers. Ask what document confirms the implant system (an implant card with the batch number). Find out how many visits there will be and how long healing takes, because the timing depends on the bone. Ask for the cost of diagnostics and of any extra procedures separately.
A common mistake is to choose the lowest price without checking what is in it. Another is not having a scan and learning about the need for bone grafting only along the way. Related topics: dentures and veneers, tooth extraction, general dentistry. To start, create a request.
