Cartridge refilling and repair of printers and MFDs
Refilling, chip or repair: what do you need
This category usually covers three different jobs. The first is refilling laser cartridges with toner or inkjet ones with ink. The second is replacing the chip, when the printer “does not see” the cartridge or blocks printing after a refill. The third is repairing the machine itself: paper jams, streaks on prints, no paper pickup, an error, no printing.
Sometimes it is simpler to replace the cartridge with a new one than to refill it. It depends on the model, the number of cycles and the condition of the drum. The technician can advise which is better value.
What to put in your request
- what the equipment is — laser or inkjet printer, multifunction device;
- the model — the exact name of the printer or cartridge, for example HP LaserJet Pro M15 with cartridge 44A;
- the service — refilling, chip replacement, repair, diagnosis;
- quantity — how many cartridges or machines;
- type of printing — laser or inkjet, black-and-white or colour;
- regularity — one-off or an ongoing arrangement for an office;
- pickup or visit — collect from your office, you bring it, or a technician’s visit;
- time, city, budget, for example up to HK$31 per cartridge.
Example: “Office in Central, 6 HP 44A cartridges for an HP LaserJet Pro M15. I need refilling and a chip replacement where the printer does not see them. Courier pickup from the office, 1–2 days, and I would like to agree on regular refilling later. Budget up to HK$31 per cartridge.”
Refilling for an office: how to save time
For companies it is better to agree on regular servicing: the technician collects the empty cartridges and returns the refilled ones, and if needed provides spares while yours are being repaired. In the request, write how many printers you have, how many pages you print a month and whether you need spare cartridges. It helps you compare offers for a service contract, not just a one-off price.
How to compare offers
- Does the refill price include the chip, hopper cleaning, replacing the doctor blade and other consumable parts?
- What is the quality of the toner or ink, and can the technician show sample prints?
- Is there a warranty on the refill (for example, if streaks appear)?
- How many times can a cartridge be refilled before the drum must be replaced?
- Is there free delivery to the office, and what is the time?
A common mistake is to buy the cheapest refill without asking. Non-standard toner can leave streaks, dirty the printer and shorten the life of the drum. Also do not open cartridges yourself. Toner is very fine and makes a mess of everything around.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You do not have to phone refilling centres. Create a request, and technicians reply in the chat with a price, or what it depends on, and time. The request is checked, and you are told what is missing. Technicians see where they stand among the others, so they often improve their terms, and reviews are shown beside the offers. Only the technician you choose gets your contacts. More in how it works.
