Concentration and volume: what you are really buying
The same fragrance comes in several versions: eau de toilette (EDT), eau de parfum (EDP), parfum (extrait). Eau de parfum is usually longer lasting and richer, while eau de toilette is lighter and smells brightest in the first hours. So “Dior Sauvage” without more detail can mean different bottles and different prices.
Volume matters too: compare the price per millilitre, not the price per bottle. Big 100 ml bottles often work out better than 30–50 ml ones.
What to put in your request
- Fragrance — brand and exact name, or the notes you want.
- Concentration — eau de parfum, eau de toilette, parfum, cologne.
- Volume — 30, 50, 100 ml.
- Original or tester — original in a box, tester, decant or sample.
- For whom — men's, women's, unisex.
- Condition — sealed or partly used.
- Budget and city.
Example: “Looking for Dior Sauvage, eau de parfum, 100 ml, original in a sealed box, not a tester. Central, courier delivery. Budget up to HK$750.”
Tester, decant and batch
A tester is an original bottle without the fancy box, usually cheaper, but buy it only from a seller who says honestly that it is one. A decant (sample) lets you try a fragrance without buying the whole bottle, but it is harder to guarantee it is genuine.
To check an original, ask about the batch code on the box and the bottle, which must match. Check the film wrap, print quality, the colour of the liquid and the sprayer. If the price is far below the other offers, ask again where it comes from.
How to choose a scent blind
Perfumes develop differently on skin, so it is best to try it in a shop first or take a sample. Look at the pyramid of notes: top notes vanish in minutes, the base stays for hours. In the heat people often choose citrus and marine scents, and in cooler weather woody, sweet and spicy ones.

- The same fragrance, concentration and volume in every offer.
- Original in a box, tester or used bottle.
- The price per millilitre, not only per bottle.
- A photo of the batch and return terms.
