BYD parts, new and from breakers: how to find the one you need
What you are looking for: body, running gear or powertrain
BYD makes mostly electric cars and hybrids, so parts here fall into two groups. Body and running-gear parts (headlight, bumper, door, suspension) are much like those of ordinary cars. Powertrain parts (battery, motor, inverter, reduction gear) need a clear understanding of the car's version. So start by answering: which part, for which model, for example Song Plus, Han, Atto 3, Qin or Seagull.
EV, DM-i and the home market
The same model often exists in several versions: pure electric (EV), DM-i hybrid, a Chinese-market version or an export one. Parts from different versions can differ in mountings, connectors and software. So always write which powertrain you have and which market the car comes from.
High-voltage units are replaced only by specialised technicians. Buying is one thing and fitting is another, so agree in advance who will do it.
What to put in your request
- Car model — for example BYD Song Plus;
- Which part — for example the front headlight;
- Year and body — for example 2022;
- Powertrain — EV, DM-i, Chinese-market or export version;
- Side — front left, rear right and so on;
- Colour — for body parts;
- Condition of the part — new, used or from a breaker, undamaged;
- VIN — for an exact match;
- Delivery city and budget.
Example: “I need a front left headlight for a BYD Song Plus 2022, EV version, Chinese-market, from a breaker, undamaged and with intact mountings. VIN LGXCE4CB0N0123456. Courier delivery to Shah Alam, budget up to RM 390.”
New, original or from a breaker
BYD models are fairly young, so there are still few breakers, and some parts may be available only to order. Sellers answer differently: some offer a part from stock, others bring it in to order. In the offers, compare lead times, because the difference between “in stock now” and “wait” matters for a repair.
Also ask about the warranty and whether you can return the part if it turns out to be incompatible.
One more trap is language: electric cars from China often have the interface and diagnostics in Chinese. For screens, control units and cameras, ask whether an English interface exists and whether a software update is available.
