How to hire a doctor for a clinic or medical centre

First decide the speciality and the form of cooperation

“A doctor is needed” is too broad. A sonologist, a family physician, a general physician and a dermatologist have quite different requirements for equipment, qualifications and workload. Besides, cooperation can be full-time on staff, part-time, or renting a consulting room with pay as a percentage of consultations.

The more clearly the vacancy is described, the better the chance that doctors who really fit will reply. An honest picture helps too: how many patients, whether there is a nurse, what equipment the doctor will work on.

Pay attention to the pay model as well. Doctors paid by percentage of consultations are interested in patient flow and who brings in the clients, while salaried ones care about the size of the salary and whether there is night duty. For a family physician it matters how many registered patients there already are and whether new ones must be recruited.

Think separately about the workplace: a consulting room, a nurse, a receptionist and equipment. A doctor agrees more readily when they see that the conditions for normal work are already in place.

What to include in the request

  • Speciality — for example sonologist, general physician, paediatrician;
  • Place of work — private clinic, hospital, medical centre;
  • Workload — number of patients, hours of consultation;
  • Registration and certificates — registration with the medical council, postgraduate qualification, specialisation;
  • Experience — how many years of practice;
  • Salary — a fixed rate or a percentage of consultations;
  • Schedule — full or part-time;
  • City and area and employment terms.

Example: “Kuala Lumpur, a private clinic. A sonologist is needed part-time: appointments by booking, a modern machine. Postgraduate qualification, at least 3 years' experience. Pay 40% of consultation fees, on the clinic's payroll.”

How it works on BlaBlaPrice

You create a request on the home page in your own words. The site checks it, removes ads and suggests what to add. Doctors in your area reply in the chat: they describe their experience, give their terms and name their expectations. You compare and choose; contacts are opened only to the one you choose. The principle is described on the page “How it works”.

How to check a candidate

Always check documents: degree, specialist qualification, current registration with the medical council. Ask for references from previous places and find out how they treat patients. A doctor who communicates well is often more important than just an “experienced” one.

For clinical questions, licensing and requirements for the facility, it is better to consult a lawyer or a medical-law specialist, as the requirements depend on the type of facility. Agree in advance on responsibility, appointment rules and how patients are allocated.

If you are a doctor looking for work

Register as a service provider, choose the category and your city, and vacancies will come in. Write about your speciality, qualifications and the form of work you want. There are also vacancies for medical staff such as dentists and pharmacists.

Questions and answers

How do I state pay if it is a percentage?

Write the percentage and what it is calculated from, for example the consulting room's revenue. Also say when payments are made.

Can I look for a part-time doctor?

Yes, doctors often work at several places. State the days and hours of consultation in your request.

Which documents should I ask for?

The degree, the specialist qualification, the medical council registration and details of experience. If needed, check the requirements with a lawyer or the relevant body.

Can all candidates see my contacts?

No, only the person you choose gets them, and only through the channels you give.
