Plan an event: hosts, entertainers, catering, halls
What an event is made of
An event is put together from separate parts: venue, food, programme, decor. You can order everything together or pick only what is missing. So first decide what is hard for you and what you will do yourself.
If you want to hand everything to one team, look at turnkey wedding and event planning. If you are putting it together in parts, look separately for banquet halls, catering and cooks, hosts and musicians, entertainers and costume characters.
For decoration there is decor and floristry, balloon decoration, and also made-to-order desserts and baking.
What to put in your request
- event: wedding, birthday, corporate event, graduation party, naming ceremony;
- date and time: or at least the season, if not fixed yet;
- number of guests and who they are: children, adults, elderly people;
- place: city, area, whether you already have a hall or the team must come to your location;
- format: sit-down dinner, buffet, outdoor ceremony, children's quest;
- what you need: food, programme, decor, music, photography;
- special points: diets, allergies, theme, age limits;
- budget for the whole event or for one part.
How to compare offers
Compare catering by portion size, menu, service and crockery, not just the price per person. Ask whether waiters, hire of tables and tablecloths, working hours and clean-up are included. For a hall, what matters is the rent, the minimum order, whether you can bring your own, and until what time the hall is open.
For hosts, entertainers and musicians, watch videos of their performances, check reviews, the length of the programme, props and extra hours. Ask about a replacement if the performer falls ill, and whether the date is fixed with an advance. Ask a host whether they can show the script and the music without vulgar jokes. For decor and desserts, ask for a portfolio and agree a sketch beforehand. For catering, ask about a tasting before you sign the contract.
Common mistakes
The most common is to look for everything at the last moment: popular dates and seasons are booked months ahead, especially wedding weekends in the season. The second is to ignore the age of the audience: a programme that suits adults bores children. The third is to agree verbally. Put the date, time, programme, amount, advance and cancellation terms in the contract. The fourth is to leave no reserve in the budget for unexpected costs.
For children's parties, ask about the safety of the props and experience of working with children, and arrange a quiet corner for rest. For outdoor events have a rain plan, especially in the rainy season, and for big banquets think about transport for guests.
If your budget is limited, set priorities: what you are ready to give up and what must be good. It is often better to put more into the food and the host and keep the decor simple.
How BlaBlaPrice works
You describe the event in one request. It is checked before it is shown to providers, and you are told which details are missing. Organisers, hosts, caterers and halls reply in the chat: programme, price or the way it is calculated, free dates. The platform shows the one that is best on substance first, and reviews are visible next to each. Contacts stay hidden until you choose. More on the page “How it works”.
