How to buy a game console: PS5, Xbox or Switch, new or used
Which console to choose
PS5 means powerful exclusives and a big library. Xbox Series X is technically strong, while the Series S is cheaper and more compact, but has no disc drive. Nintendo Switch OLED is ideal for handheld play and family fun. The PS5 comes in versions with and without a disc drive (digital): the digital one is cheaper, but you can't run physical discs on it.
Go by the games you want to play and the friends you play with. If everyone in your group is on PlayStation, there is no point switching platform.
What to put in your request
- model: for example PS5 with disc drive, PS4 Slim, Xbox Series X, Switch OLED;
- new or used, and what condition and age you will accept;
- storage: 1 TB or another;
- what's in the box: extra controllers, games, box, charger;
- firmware: modified or only factory;
- warranty: brand or from the seller;
- delivery: city, courier delivery or pickup;
- budget.
Example: “I'm looking for a PS5 with disc drive, used for less than a year, 1 TB, with two controllers and 3 games. Pickup in George Town. Budget up to RM 2,000.”
New or used, modified or not
Think separately about storage: the PS5's built-in drive is fast, but the space runs out quickly, and expanding it needs a compatible SSD. The Xbox Series also has its own expansion card format, so compare models with different storage at the full price, not by the label.
A new console gives you a warranty and a known history. A used one is better value, but check the condition: whether the disc drive works, cooling, USB ports, accounts and absence of locks. Ask for a video of it starting up and running games. Ask about its age and why it is being sold.
Modified consoles are a separate matter. Modification can limit online features and breaks the maker's terms, and the warranty is usually lost. State clearly in the request whether you want such a console or only one with factory firmware, so you don't get unwanted offers.
How searching works on BlaBlaPrice
You describe the console you want in one request, and sellers reply in the chat with price, what's in the box, warranty and delivery. They see where their offer ranks, so they compete for your request. BlaBlaPrice shows the one that is best on substance first, seller reviews are visible next to it, and your phone stays hidden. Details are on the page “How it works”.
Common mistakes
People buy a console without checking whether the cables and a controller are in the box. They don't ask whether it has a disc drive. They overpay for a bundle with games they don't need. They don't count the extra costs: games, a subscription, a second controller. For these, see console games and gamepads and accessories.
