House and office removals: how to order and not overpay
A move is not only a vehicle
When people look for how to organise a move, they usually think about the truck. But the cost is made up of several parts: the vehicle, loaders, time, packing, dismantling furniture and handling difficult items. If your request does not mention them, each team counts in its own way, and the offers cannot be compared.
So it is best to describe the move in detail once. On BlaBlaPrice you write a request, and teams and carriers reply with offers in the chat. They see where their price ranks and adjust the terms to you. It is free for the customer, and nobody sees your phone until you choose a provider.
Flat or office: what is different
A home move mostly depends on the floor, the lift and the amount of furniture. Here it matters to dismantle wardrobes and beds, pack crockery and appliances, and carry heavy things down carefully.
An office has a different logic. Often you must fit it into a weekend or an evening so that work does not stop, carry equipment, servers and archives carefully, and take down and set up workstations. It is worth labelling boxes by room beforehand and planning what goes where in the new place.
What to put in your request
- From where to where — addresses or areas, within a city or between cities.
- Volume — number of rooms or workstations, a list of large items.
- Date and time — for example, Saturday, 9:00.
- Loaders — needed, and how many.
- Floor and lift — at both addresses; a goods lift or an ordinary one.
- Packing and dismantling — materials, a packing service, taking furniture apart and putting it together.
- Special items — a piano, a safe, an aquarium, servers, glass.
- Budget — if you want to name one.
Example: “Move of a 2-bedroom flat from one district of Kuala Lumpur to another on Saturday at 9:00. I need a mini truck and 3 loaders, 5th floor, a lift is available; two wardrobes to be taken apart and put together, and crockery to be packed. There is a piano. Budget up to RM 450.”
How to compare offers
Pay attention to whether the price is per hour, per trip or “turnkey”. Hourly pay is good when the work is quick, but it is important to learn the minimum hours and whether travel time is counted. Ask whether there is insurance against damage and whether the team is responsible for what gets spoiled. Pianos and safes usually cost extra and need experience.
Reviews beside each offer help you weed out random people. Also leave a few questions in the chat: do they have their own straps and soft pads, and will they bring wrap and boxes?
How not to spoil moving day
Pack your things in advance and label the boxes. Warn about parking near the building and about a narrow lane. Agree who dismantles the furniture, you or the team. Discuss what happens if the work runs over.
If you need only a vehicle, see freight transport, and if you need only hands, loaders and movers. Everything is in one place in the “Transport and delivery” section, and the rules of the service are on the “How it works” page.
