A turnkey kitchen or ready-made kitchen furniture: how to compare offers

Measurements are the first step

The price of a kitchen is worked out by the length of the cabinets and the set, so first measure the walls: the length of each section, the height to the ceiling, the space for appliances, the position of water, the chimney or exhaust duct and the sockets. For an L-shaped kitchen it is important to give both lengths, for example 2.4 m + 1.6 m. It helps to add a photo of the room, so the fitter can see where the pipes and the window are.

What makes up the price of a kitchen

  • Carcasses: laminated board is cheaper, moisture-resistant boards or MDF cost more.
  • Fronts: film MDF, painted MDF, laminate, acrylic, solid wood. Painted and solid wood cost more.
  • Countertop: post-formed laminated board, artificial stone, quartz. It decides resistance to water and scratches.
  • Hardware: hinges and drawers with soft-close will last longer. Ask about the brand.
  • What is included: sink, tap, hood, lighting, handles.

How it works with BlaBlaPrice

A kitchen is offered by makers and showrooms, and the final price depends on many details. So it is handy to describe everything once in a request and get replies in the chat: what exactly, from which materials, at what price, when they will deliver and whether they will assemble. Sellers can see where their offer stands and improve their terms to win the request. Only the one you choose gets your contacts. Read more: how it works.

What to put in your request

  • What exactly — a full kitchen, L-shaped, table, chairs, bar stools, individual cabinets.
  • Sizes — wall lengths, height, number of seats at the table.
  • Material of carcasses, fronts and countertop.
  • New or second-hand.
  • What is included — sink, hood, built-in appliances, lighting.
  • Colour and style — white gloss, wood, loft, classic.
  • Delivery, carrying up and assembly.
  • City and budget.

Example: “I need a new L-shaped kitchen 2.4 m + 1.6 m, laminated board carcasses, painted MDF fronts, white gloss, moisture-resistant countertop. With a sink and a built-in hood, with assembly. Kuala Lumpur. Budget up to RM 7,300.”

How to compare offers

The most common trap is comparing "a kitchen for RM 3,900" with "a kitchen for RM 5,700" without knowing what is in each. Ask for a breakdown: materials, countertop thickness, hardware brand, whether the sink, plinth, skirting and backsplash are included. Ask separately about production time, and whether the maker does the measuring and fitting or outside fitters do.

Ask about the warranty on the carcass and hardware and what happens if a defect shows up during assembly. Get a sketch or a 3D visualisation before you pay, to check sizes and layout.

Ready-made or made to order

A ready-made kitchen is quicker and often cheaper, but it does not always fit the space. If the room is non-standard, think about a made-to-measure one: see custom-made furniture. More ideas for the home are in the section Furniture, and for the living room there is a separate category: living room furniture.

Questions and answers

How long does it take to make a kitchen?

It depends on the maker and the complexity, usually a few weeks. Give the dates you want in your request and sellers will say whether they can meet them.

Can I order a kitchen without appliances?

Yes. State in your request that you don't need appliances or already have them, and ask for niches to be planned for them.

What is the difference between film and painted MDF fronts?

Film is cheaper, paint gives a deeper colour and gloss but costs more. Ask to see samples.

Do all sellers see my contacts?

No, your phone is hidden. You pass it only to the seller you choose.
