Products for people with disabilities: wheelchairs, walkers, mattresses
Start with the person, not the catalogue
A wheelchair, walker or patient lift must suit one particular person. That is why sellers will first ask about height and weight, where it will be used and who will care for the person. Seat width, load capacity and wheel size all depend on this. A wheelchair that is too narrow pinches, and one that is too wide won't fit through the door. For medical advice ask a doctor or a rehabilitation specialist. Here you look for where to buy at a better price.
Buy, buy used or rent
If you need the device for a few weeks after an injury or surgery, renting is often cheaper: you don't have to store the chair or walker once you recover. For permanent use it is better to buy, because the device is adjusted to the person. Used wheelchairs and walkers are sold often, but before buying check the wheels, brakes, upholstery, frame and whether it folds properly. Say in your request that you are open to both buying and renting, and sellers will offer both.
What to put in your request
- Product — wheelchair, crutches, walker, walking stick, patient lift, anti-bedsore mattress, commode chair.
- Specifications — manual or electric, foldable, seat width, maximum user weight.
- Height and weight — size and load depend on them.
- Where it will be used — at home, outdoors, a bedridden patient, carrying in a car.
- Condition — new or used in working order.
- Buy or rent — and for how long.
- Brand, city and budget.
Example: “I need to rent a foldable wheelchair for 2 months, seat 45 cm, user weight 95 kg, for walks outdoors. Ipoh, delivery or pickup. Budget up to RM 730 if buying.”
How offers work
You can write the request in your own words and add one photo, for example of the place where the bed will stand. It is checked for ads and contact details before it is shown. Sellers of medical equipment and rentals reply in the chat: which model they offer, the price, whether it is in stock, how they deliver. They see their place among the others, so they compete for your request. BlaBlaPrice shows the best offer first, judged on what it actually contains, with reviews next to it. Only the seller you choose sees your phone number. More in how it works.
What to look at when comparing
- The same seat width and permitted weight in all offers.
- For electric wheelchairs, the range, the battery and whether service is available.
- Folded size and the weight of the chair if you lift it into a car.
- For anti-bedsore mattresses, the type (air with a compressor, or foam) and maximum weight.
- Warranty, delivery, return terms and, for rental, the deposit and how it is returned.
