Cars from Europe: how to compare imports and ready all-in cars

Two routes: import it or buy one already in Pakistan

There are two ways to buy a car from Europe. You can order an import from abroad, or take a car that is already in Pakistan and cleared through customs. Adverts abroad usually show prices without shipping, import duty and service fees, so you can compare them with ready cars only by the “all-in price”.

Through BlaBlaPrice you write one request, and importers and sellers reply on their own: which car, from which country, how much it costs all-in and how long it takes. You see what the sum includes and can compare the feedback on the seller. Contacts stay hidden until you choose.

What to look at in a car from Europe

The country matters. Cars from Germany, the Netherlands or Belgium often come with a clear service history, while for other countries the history is harder to check. Ask for the service book, the maintenance history and a mileage check by chassis number in open databases. Mileage tampering happens in Europe too, so a gap between the odometer and the service records is a reason to be careful.

Ask separately about the source: a private owner, a dealer or a leasing company. Leased cars often have high mileage, but they were serviced regularly.

What to put in your request

  • Make and model — with the generation, for example Skoda Octavia A7.
  • Year — a range, say 2016–2018.
  • Country of import — whether it matters that it comes from Germany.
  • Import or already in Pakistan — and whether you need a cleared car.
  • Engine and gearbox — for example diesel 2.0 TDI with DSG.
  • Body type — sedan, estate, crossover.
  • Kilometres — up to how many thousand.
  • All-in budget — with shipping and customs clearance.
  • City — where it is convenient to inspect or receive the car.

Example: “I need a Skoda Octavia A7 estate 2016–2018, diesel 2.0 TDI, DSG, from Germany, up to 100,000 km. Preferably already cleared, budget up to Rs 4,000,000 all-in, Rawalpindi.”

How to compare offers

Ask each one for a breakdown: price of the car, shipping, import duty and taxes, the agent’s fee, registration. Without it, “cheaper” may just mean an incomplete sum. Also ask who is responsible for the condition of the car until handover and whether there is a written agreement.

If you are considering other directions, look at cars from the USA, Korea and Europe together, or offers for foreign-registered cars.

One more option is a used car that has long been in Pakistan: you can inspect it and take a test drive before paying, and that removes many risks.

Another detail is the season and the exchange rate. Import prices depend on the currency rate on the day you pay, and demand can change with the season. If you are not in a hurry, give flexible timing in your request: it is easier for sellers to offer better terms.

Common mistakes

Buying from photos without an inspection or an independent check. Not asking about repair history and repainted panels. Forgetting the costs after arrival: customs clearance, registration, servicing. So keep a reserve in your budget and give sellers complete details. More about the service is on the “How it works” page.

Questions and answers

What does “all-in price” mean?

It is the sum you pay for the car together with shipping, customs clearance and the agent’s fee. Ask for a breakdown to see what is included.

Can I check a car from Europe before buying?

Yes. You can order a check by chassis number and an inspection on the spot, or ask for a video and diagnostics. This is especially worth doing for an import.

Which country is best to import from?

There is no universal answer. Look at the particular car, its history and papers, not just the country.

Does the buyer pay for finding offers?

No, it is free for the buyer. The seller pays a small fee only when you choose them.
