Eyebrow shaping, tinting and lamination: how to find a brow artist
What “eyebrow styling” includes
It is not one procedure but a set. Shaping (with tweezers, wax or threading), tinting with henna or dye, lamination for a brushed-up, fuller look, and long-lasting styling. They are often combined: shaping plus tinting, or lamination with tinting. The more steps, the longer the visit and the higher the price, so say in your request which ones you need.
The difference between henna and dye is that henna also stains the skin under the brows and lasts longer on the skin, while dye gives a more even colour on the hairs. Which is better depends on how thick your brows are and what you want.
What to include in your request
- Procedure — shaping, tinting, lamination, long-lasting styling.
- Tinting — henna or dye, and the shade you want.
- Shape and effect — natural, fluffy, sharply defined.
- Condition of your brows — sparse, uneven, remains of old permanent makeup.
- Date and time.
- Home visit or salon.
- Area, the artist’s experience and budget.
Example: “I need shaping and henna tinting, warm brown, natural shape. My brows are sparse and slightly uneven. Lahore, Saturday morning. A brow artist with a portfolio, budget up to Rs 2,800.”
How to compare offers
Check what the service includes: are shaping, tinting and lamination in one price or separate? A good sign is when the artist asks about your face shape and hair colour and does not promise a “celebrity” shape without considering your natural structure. Look at before-and-after portfolios, especially on brows like yours.
- What they tint with and whether they do an allergy patch test: if your skin is sensitive, ask beforehand.
- How long the result lasts: it depends on your skin type and aftercare, and the artist will give an estimate.
- Whether there is a discount on a repeat visit.
Common mistakes
Most often people ask for a shape that does not suit their natural brow line and are disappointed. They also forget to mention an allergy to the dye, fresh scratches or remains of permanent makeup. Another mistake is plucking your brows before the visit: it is easier for the artist to work with your real shape. After lamination, keep your brows dry for a while: the artist will tell you exactly how long.
