Nappies and baby hygiene: how to buy at a good price

The baby's weight decides the nappy size

Nappies are marked with numbers: 1 and 2 are for newborns, then up to size five or six. Go by the baby's weight in kilograms, which is printed on the pack as a range, for example 5 (11–25 kg). When you are on the border between sizes, think about the baby's build: the nappy should fit snugly but not tightly around the thighs and waist. If it leaks, moving up a size often helps.

Pull-up pants are handier for active babies who already crawl and walk, and classic ones with tabs for newborns and for sleeping at night. For babies with sensitive skin people choose ones marked hypoallergenic, and ask a paediatrician if needed. In hot, humid weather, breathable nappies and changing often matter more.

What to put in your request

  • what exactly — nappies, pants, wet wipes, nappy cream, shampoo, baby powder, bath products, disposable changing mats;
  • size and weight, for example 5 (11–25 kg), or “for a newborn”;
  • brand or range — Pampers, Huggies, Libero, Merries, including Pampers Premium Care;
  • quantity — how many packs or pieces, or a case;
  • features — hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, night, organic;
  • one-time or regular;
  • budget and delivery city.

Example: “I need 4 packs of Pampers Premium Care pants, size 5 (11–25 kg). Fragrance-free, with a good margin on the expiry date. Budget up to Rs 13,000, courier delivery to Faisalabad.”

How to work out the price: per piece, not per pack

The most common trap in this category is comparing the price of a pack. Packs hold different numbers of nappies, so the only fair way is to divide the sum by the number of pieces. The same goes for wipes: work out the cost per wipe or per 100. Mega boxes and big packs usually work out cheaper than small ones, but only if the baby doesn't outgrow the size before they run out.

Before a big purchase take one pack of the new size or brand and make sure the nappies suit your baby: shape and snugness differ noticeably between makes.

Regular purchases

Nappies get used all the time, so it makes sense to agree a regular supply with a seller, for example every month. Say so in the request: sellers may offer other terms for repeat orders. Manufacture dates, intact packaging and storage conditions deserve attention too, especially for hygiene products: ask how and where the goods were stored.

How it works in BlaBlaPrice

You write one request and sellers reply in the chat with brand, size, quantity and price. BlaBlaPrice shows the best offer first, judged on what it contains, with reviews of the seller next to each. Sellers compete for your request, so the price often comes out better. Contacts are hidden and opened only to the one you choose. More in how it works.

Also useful are baby feeding products and baby food.

Questions and answers

How do I choose the nappy size?

Go by the baby's weight shown on the pack. If the weight is on the border of two sizes and the nappy leaks, try the next one.

Which is better, nappies with tabs or pants?

Pants are handy for active babies, and ones with tabs for newborns and for the night. Write in the request which type you need.

How do I compare nappy prices?

Divide the pack price by the number of pieces. Then it is easy to see which offer is really cheaper.

Can I agree on a regular supply?

Yes, mark in the request that you need it every month. Sellers will write their terms.
