How to hire a plasterboard fitter: partitions, ceilings, niches
What needs to be fitted
Plasterboard means partitions, single- and multi-level false ceilings, wall lining, boxes for services, niches and arches. A flat ceiling and a partition are one level of difficulty; a multi-level ceiling with cove lighting is quite another. So in the vacancy say exactly which structures you need and whether there is a drawing. Also specify the frame material: a galvanised profile determines both strength and price.
What to include in the vacancy
- Type of work — partitions, ceilings, wall lining, boxes, niches, a frame of metal profile.
- Volume of work — in square feet or running feet, for example 3,000 sq ft.
- Type of site — flat, private house, office, commercial premises.
- Pay — per square foot, for example Rs 150 per sq ft.
- Site address — city and area.
- Type of employment — permanently in a crew or for one site.
- Joint filling — whether it is part of the job, or only fitting.
- Experience and tools — in years, their own or the company's.

How to hire through BlaBlaPrice
You describe the task once, in your own words. The request is checked: no ads or contact details in the text, and you get hints on which details to add. Then fitters in your area reply in the chat: experience, rates, when they can start. BlaBlaPrice shows the strongest replies first, with the candidate's reviews next to each. Your phone number stays hidden, and you pay nothing for the search. More on the page “How it works”.
How to compare offers
Check exactly what the price per square foot includes. One craftsman counts only frame and boards, another also includes filling the joints, taping and priming. The difference between offers often lies right here. Also ask who buys the profile, screws and tape.
Ask for photos of previous work: on ceilings, waviness and ripples show in raking light. Ask how many fixings per metre are used and how the craftsman prepares the openings for light fittings. For painting afterwards you will need a painter, and for carrying materials and helper work a general labourer. Also agree on rubbish removal and protecting the floor: plasterboard dust spreads through the whole flat, and cleaning often becomes a point of dispute.
