Rubbish removal: construction waste, household waste, old furniture

What goes into the price

After renovation, a move or a clear-out, you end up with rubbish that will not fit in the bin near your building. The price of removal does not depend on “a vehicle of rubbish” but on a few things: the type of waste, the volume, the number of people needed for loading, the distance to the dumping site, and conditions on site, such as an upper floor with no lift.

On BlaBlaPrice you describe what has to be removed once, and providers reply with offers. They see where their price stands, so they compete with each other. It is free for buyers, and your phone number stays hidden.

Construction and household waste: the difference

Construction waste is broken tiles, plaster, bricks, old doors. It is heavy, often dusty, and gets put in sacks. Here the price depends on weight and on whether loaders are needed. Household waste, old furniture and appliances are lighter but take up a lot of space. It is important to separate what is in sacks from what is loose, and what is bulky.

Hazardous waste, such as lamps, batteries, paints and tyres, is a separate matter. Not everyone takes it, so if you have anything like that, say so plainly. Some providers specialise only in furniture or appliances.

What to include in your request

  • Type of waste — construction, household, old furniture, appliances, garden.
  • Volume — number of sacks, cubic metres, tonnes or a vehicle load.
  • Packing — in sacks or loose.
  • Loading — whether loaders are needed to carry it out and load it.
  • Floor — and whether there is a lift.
  • Vehicle — a van, a truck, or a container for several days, for example 8 m³.
  • Address — city and area.
  • Date — when it has to be removed.
  • Budget — if you want to name one.

Example: “Karachi, on Friday: remove construction waste after renovation, about 40 sacks, 3rd floor with no lift. Loaders are needed to carry it down. Budget up to Rs 9,700.”

A container or a one-trip removal

If the renovation takes several days, a container is more convenient: it is placed near the building, you fill it gradually, and then it is taken away. For a one-off clear-out, a single trip with loaders is better. A container is not suitable if there is no room to put it or if permission for parking is needed, for example from your housing society.

What to look at in the replies

Ask whether loaders and carrying out are included in the price, whether disposal at the dumping site is included, and whether there is a charge by weight. Find out whether the provider has the right to dispose of the waste at an authorised site: waste cannot be dumped anywhere, so ask where it will be taken. Ask for a document or at least a receipt. Reviews are shown next to the offers, and that matters, because a price without a check can turn into “extra cubic metres”.

While you prepare the request, photograph the pile of rubbish: the provider will estimate the volume more exactly. After a big renovation you often need cleaning too, and for that there are housekeeping services. Other home services are in “Household services”, and the rules of the site are on the “How it works” page.

Questions and answers

How do I estimate the volume of rubbish?

Count the sacks or take a photo of the pile and add it to the request. An approximate volume in cubic metres helps providers quote a price.

Which is cheaper: a container or a tempo?

For a small one-off volume a tempo is better value, and for a long renovation a container. You can ask for both options and compare.

Will they take hazardous waste?

Not all of them. If you have lamps, batteries, paints or tyres, say so in the request and ask about conditions.

Can I see who replied without revealing my phone?

Yes, offers arrive in the chat, and your contacts stay hidden until you choose a provider.
