Drone accessories: batteries, propellers, cases
An accessory has to match the drone model
For a drone, people most often buy spare batteries, propellers, charging hubs, ND filters for the camera, cases and backpacks, screens for the controller, gimbal guards and landing pads. Almost all of them are chosen for a particular model, such as DJI Mavic 3, and a “universal” one exists only for small items.
So start with the exact drone model, not the name of the accessory.
Some things are useful to nearly everyone. ND filters help you shoot video on a bright day with natural motion blur. It is best to always have spare propellers, because they break first after a soft landing in branches. A propeller guard helps in tight indoor spaces, and a landing pad keeps sand and dust out of the motors, which matters on dusty ground. For a controller with a phone, people buy cables and a sun shade separately.
Original or aftermarket
Original batteries cost more, but they are matched to the drone and charger, and the charge controller “knows” the battery. Aftermarket ones can work, but the capacity is often overstated and the protection weaker. For batteries, which can catch fire, this is an argument for a proven source. For propellers, covers and cases, aftermarket ones are quite acceptable.
If an original matters, write “original only” and ask for photos of the packaging and the serial number.
What to put in your request
- What exactly — battery, propellers, ND filters, charger, case;
- Drone model, exactly;
- Original or aftermarket;
- Specifications — capacity in mAh, number of cells;
- Quantity;
- Condition — new or used;
- Budget and city for delivery.
Example: “Looking for three new original batteries for a DJI Mavic 3, capacity 5000 mAh. The original packaging is important. Johannesburg, courier delivery, budget up to R 5,900.”
How to compare offers
Look at the battery's manufacturing date and the number of cycles if it is used: a lithium battery ages even without use. Ask whether a charger or hub is included and whether delivery is in the price. For propellers, check the size and direction of rotation. Small accessories are cheaper as a set, so list everything in one request.
Remember the rules for transporting lithium batteries too: sellers know how to pack them for shipping.
What BlaBlaPrice gives you
You create a request on the home page, and sellers of drones and electronics answer in the chat: in stock or not, original or aftermarket, price, timing. They see where they stand among others and compete for your request. The service is free for the buyer, and your phone is hidden. Details are on How it works.
