Tablets, e-readers and accessories: how to choose and buy
A tablet, an e-reader or a graphics tablet
These devices look alike but are meant for different things. A tablet is an all-round screen for video, study and games. An e-reader with an E Ink screen is made for reading: it is easy on the eyes and holds its charge for weeks. A graphics tablet is for people who draw or retouch, and works with a computer or on its own.
So first decide what you will do every day. If you only read text, a tablet will be overkill, and you can't watch video on an e-reader.
What to specify for each kind
- Tablet computers. For tablets, the operating system, screen size, storage, SIM or Wi-Fi only, stylus support and, for used ones, battery health all matter.
- E-readers. E-readers: screen size, backlight, supported formats, water resistance, storage.
- For creative work. Graphics tablets: working area, pen pressure levels, whether it has its own screen, compatibility with your software.
- Repair. Spare parts: the exact model, original or compatible part.
- Add-ons. Accessories: cases, screen guards, keyboards, styluses, chargers. Give the model, because sizes and ports differ.
How searching works through BlaBlaPrice
Instead of browsing dozens of pages, you write a request: which device, what it's for, new or used, in which city. The check removes ads and contacts from the text, and the system suggests what to add.
Sellers reply in the chat with the model, price, what's in the box and delivery time. The offers are compared, the best one by value is shown first, and reviews help you judge the seller. Sellers see their place among the others and can improve their terms. Your phone is hidden from everyone except the seller you choose. Details are on the “How it works” page.
How to compare offers
Check the storage: versions with different storage can have the same name. For a tablet, ask whether there is an official warranty and whether the device still gets system updates. For an e-reader, ask whether it supports the formats you read and how to load files.
If you are buying used, ask for photos of the screen when off and on, the battery wear and whether it was ever repaired. A charger should normally be in the box, and a case or stylus can be a nice bonus.
Common mistakes
Choosing by screen size without looking at the processor and memory. Buying “universal” accessories that don't fit. Buying a graphics tablet without checking it works with the software or operating system you need. Forgetting that a cheap tablet can become outdated quickly.
What affects the price and what to ask
For tablets, the price depends on the processor, storage, screen quality and stylus support. A version with a mobile data module costs more than Wi-Fi only. For e-readers it is screen size, backlight and water resistance. Graphics tablets get dearer with area and pressure levels.
A stylus or keyboard can be a noticeable part of the tablet's own price, so ask about the bundle and what exactly is included.
Before buying, check that the model supports the apps you need, and how much space the system takes. For a child or an older person, parental controls, a big screen and a sturdy case are useful, so mention that in your request.
Finally, check that the interface has the language you need and that the device is not tied to the previous owner's account: this matters most for used ones.
