Boys' clothes wear out fast: where not to save
Knees on trousers, elbows and cuffs of jackets suffer first on an active boy. So for everyday wear look at fabric thickness, double seams and reinforced knees. For outerwear the zip and the waterproofing matter more. Save on things for “one season”: festive outfits, T-shirts, home wear.
Measure height in centimetres, and also chest and trouser length if the item is close-fitting. Before a growth spurt boys' shoulders may stay narrow while the trousers are already short, so if you are unsure, take a size up and turn up the hems.
What to put in your request
- what exactly — jacket, trousers, jeans, sweatshirt, suit, or a festive look such as a pirate costume;
- size — height in cm, the size on the label or age;
- season — summer, rainy season, winter;
- occasion — every day, school, festival, sport;
- colour and fabric — cotton, wool, fleece, down;
- brand — Zara, Lupilu or another;
- condition — new or used;
- delivery city and budget, if you want to name it.

How to compare offers
Compare by size, condition and fabric content. For used items ask for photos of elbows, knees and zips: they show the real wear. Ask whether you can exchange if the size doesn't fit. Compare new items by fabric content too: cotton breathes better than pure synthetics. For outerwear, ask for the stated temperature range, not just “winter”.
Sets of several items (trousers, sweatshirt, jacket) are often cheaper together. If you need a whole base wardrobe, say so in the request and sellers will offer a bundle.
Care and durability
Boys' things often have to be washed every week. Ask whether they can be washed at 40 °C, whether the print comes off and whether the fabric shrinks. Light trousers get dirty quickly on an active child, so darker shades are more practical unless it is festive wear.
