Motorcycle fairings and windscreens: how to buy at a good price
Screen or plastic: what exactly do you need
This category hides two different needs. The first is the windscreen: it turns the airflow away from your chest and helmet, so comfort on the highway depends on its height and shape. The second is body plastic: a front fairing, side panels or a full set after a fall or for painting.
Two things matter for a windscreen: height and angle. A tall touring screen protects well from wind, but can cause turbulence if it is badly chosen. A short sports screen hardly changes the airflow, but does not block your view. The tint (smoked, clear) affects visibility at dusk.
Original, aftermarket, used
- Original plastic fits perfectly at the gaps and mounting points, but costs more.
- Aftermarket is often cheaper, but sometimes needs fitting and sits unevenly at the edges.
- Used from a breaker is a good deal when you need a particular colour, but check for cracks, glued spots and intact mounting tabs.
What to put in your request
- Which part — windscreen, front fairing, side panels, full plastic set.
- Motorcycle model — for example Yamaha R15 V3.
- Year — the shape changes between generations.
- Size — for a screen: standard, tall touring, +10 cm, short sports.
- Colour — for plastic the colour, for a screen the tint (smoked, clear).
- Original or aftermarket.
- New or used.
- Delivery city and budget.
Example: “I need a windscreen for a Yamaha R15 V3 2019, smoked, 10 cm taller than standard, aftermarket is fine. New. Delivery to Dubai, budget up to AED 150.”
What to look at in the offers
Compare the thickness of the acrylic or polycarbonate: a thin screen can vibrate and scratch sooner. Ask whether the fixing bolts, washers and seals are included, because without them the result is often worse than expected. For plastic, find out whether it is primed for painting or already painted, and whether the colour matches exactly. Photos from all sides will help you spot defects before it arrives.
Do not guess the screen height: write your height and how you ride, and sellers will suggest an option.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You write your request on BlaBlaPrice once, and sellers of motorcycle parts answer with offers with price and delivery. They see how their offer compares with the others, so they compete on terms. Your phone number is not revealed until you choose a seller. More: how it works.
You can also look at mudguards and crash bars, so the plastic suffers less in a fall.
