Garages and parking: how to find a spot for your car in the right area
A place for your car is about distance and safety
The price of a garage or parking space depends on location, security and ease of access more than on size. A spot two blocks from home with CCTV and a space in a cluster of garages on the outskirts are very different things, even if the area is the same. So decide first: are you buying or renting, and what for — daily parking, storage or a workshop.

- Budget — and for rent, whether maintenance and security are included.

How to compare offers
Compare not just the price but also the documents and terms. For garages in a complex, find out who is recorded as the owner, whether there are technical papers and any unpaid dues. For a rental, check whether there is a written agreement, a deposit, rules for entering and leaving, and who pays for electricity. Do not take a space blind: see whether your car fits, whether it is easy to drive out and whether it floods in the rain.
