How to Choose and Buy a Heater or Convector for Home, Garage or Cottage
First the room, then the type
You choose a heater not by its fancy name, but by what has to be warmed. For a flat, an electric convector will do. For a garage or workshop, an infrared heater or a fan heater, because they give heat quickly where the air doesn't stay put. For a terrace or an outdoor café there are gas models. An oil-filled radiator is slow to heat, but warms evenly and is usually silent.
Power and area
As a rule of thumb, people say about 1 kW per 10 m² in a well-insulated room, but the real need depends on insulation, ceiling height and windows. A 20 m² garage usually needs more power than a room. Also check your wiring: a powerful 2–3 kW heater loads the socket and the cables, and they should be checked. For several appliances, add up the total load.
Types of heaters and what they can do
- Convector heats the air and holds the temperature well with a thermostat.
- Infrared (ceiling, wall) heats objects and people, with no need to warm the air first.
- Fan heater warms up fast, but is noisy and dries the air.
- Ceramic panel is compact and safe to touch.
- Gas models run from a cylinder or a pipeline, need ventilation and careful attention to safety.
What to put in your request
- heater type: convector, oil-filled, infrared, fan heater, gas;
- power: in kW or W;
- room: bedroom, garage, store, terrace, bathroom, and the area in m²;
- energy source: electricity, gas from a cylinder or pipeline;
- features: thermostat, timer, Wi-Fi, tip-over protection, wall or floor mounting;
- number, brand and model, new or used, budget.
Example: “I need an electric convector with an electronic thermostat and Wi-Fi for an 18 m² room in a cottage near Ajman, under 2 kW, new. I need 3 pieces, budget up to AED 220 each.”
How to compare offers
The same power gives a different feeling of warmth in different types, so don't compare a convector with an infrared panel by kW alone. Ask about overheating and tip-over protection, cable length and the way it mounts. For gas heaters, ask for the paperwork and safety instructions. When demand rises in winter, prices may change, so buying early is often cheaper.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You describe the task in a request on BlaBlaPrice, and sellers reply in the chat with price, availability and delivery. They see their place in the list and compete, so terms often improve. The best-value offer is shown first, with reviews of the seller next to each. Your phone number is hidden, and it is free for buyers. More on the page about how the service works.
In summer you will need fans and air conditioners; all of it is in the “Climate control equipment” section.
