Used parts for Honda: how to buy at a good price from a breaker

Why “I need a part for an Accord” is not enough for a Honda

The same Honda model often exists in several versions. An Accord, Civic or CR-V of different generations and markets differs in mountings, connectors and lamps. A part from one market's version does not always fit another's, and the other way round. So next to the model, always write the generation, year and engine.

The most reliable thing is to give the VIN. A breaker will check it against the donor car and tell you at once whether such a part is in stock.

What to put in your request

  • Model and generation — for example, Honda Accord 8, not just Accord;
  • Which part — the exact name: left rear tail lamp, not “lights”;
  • Year — and whether it is a facelift;
  • Engine — size and fuel, for example 2.4 petrol;
  • Side — left or right, front or rear;
  • Body colour — important for bumpers, doors, wings;
  • Condition of the part — no cracks, working, with a warranty for testing;
  • VIN — for an exact match;
  • Delivery city and budget, if you want to state one.

Example: “Honda Accord 8, 2010, 2.4 petrol. I need the left rear tail lamp on the wing, with no cracks and intact mountings, body colour black. I will give the VIN after you reply. Courier delivery to Ajman. Budget up to AED 350.”

How to compare offers from breakers

On a saloon the tail lamp often has two parts: one on the wing and one on the boot lid. Make sure the price covers exactly the part you need, not a set or just one half. Ask for a photo of the part from the mounting side: that is where the lugs break.

For mechanical and electrical parts, ask whether the part was tested on the car before removal, what the donor's mileage is, and whether there is a warranty for return if it does not fit. Also ask who pays for shipping in case of a return.

A typical mistake is buying a part just because it looks similar. The doors, bumpers and bonnets of a Civic saloon and a hatchback are different, though the name is the same. Another is mixing up the side: “left” is counted from the driver's seat, so in the request it is better to write “left, driver's side”.

How it works on BlaBlaPrice

You do not phone breakers: you write one request on BlaBlaPrice. Breakers that work with Honda answer in the chat: whether they have the part, the price, photos, delivery. The platform shows the best-value offer first, and sellers can see their position among the others and often improve their terms. Your phone number is hidden, and only the one you choose gets your contacts. More on the How it works page.

Questions and answers

How can I be sure the part will fit my Honda?

Give the VIN, generation and year. The breaker will check the part against the donor car and confirm compatibility before you pay.

Can I buy a part in the body colour?

Yes, state the colour or paint code in the request. For body parts it matters, otherwise you will have to paint.

Which is better: a used part or a new one?

A used part from a breaker is usually cheaper and often original, while a new one comes with a manufacturer's warranty. In the request you can ask for both kinds of offers and compare them.

Do sellers deliver parts by courier?

Small and medium parts are usually sent by courier. For bulky ones, such as a bumper, the seller will tell you the packing method and the cost.
