Motorcycle cover: how to choose one for outdoors or a garage

Outdoors or garage: these are different covers

The first question when choosing a cover is where the bike stands. For outdoors you need a thick cover with protection from rain and ultraviolet light, otherwise the sun will “eat” the fabric in a season. For a garage or a basement parking, a light dust sheet is enough: it breathes and does not press on the plastic.

If the bike stands outside, look at the material. Oxford fabric is usually sold with a density mark (for example 210D or 300D): a higher value means a tougher but heavier fabric. Useful details are vents for ventilation, an under-belly strap against wind, sewn-in eyelets for a lock and reflective inserts.

Size and type of cover

  • Full motorcycle cover: the most common option, chosen by size (S–XXL) or by length, for example up to 230 cm.
  • Seat cover: protects against rain and fading of the leatherette.
  • Tank cover: protects the paint from scratches.
  • Scooter front cover: protects the front part and often costs differently from a normal cover.

A bike with luggage, side cases or a tall windscreen needs a size bigger than standard, because without room the cover is hard to pull on.

What to put in your request

  • What exactly — full cover, seat, tank or scooter front cover.
  • Motorcycle model — for example Triumph Bonneville T100.
  • Size — S–XXL, or the length in cm if there is no model.
  • Where it is kept — outdoors or indoors.
  • Material — for example Oxford 210D.
  • Colour and new or used.
  • Delivery city and budget.

Example: “I need a waterproof cover for a Triumph Bonneville T100 kept outdoors, Oxford 210D, black, with an under-belly strap. Delivery to Ajman, budget up to AED 92.”

What to look at in the offers

Compare not only the size but also the seams: taped seams are better than plain stitching, because they do not leak. Ask whether there is a heat-resistant patch on the exhaust side: a hot silencer can melt ordinary fabric. Check that there is a wind strap and that the cover is long enough for your bike with all its accessories. A photo of the finished product is better than a description.

Questions and answers

Which material is better for outdoor storage?

Thick Oxford fabric with a waterproof coating and UV protection. For a garage, a light dust sheet is enough.

How do I choose the cover size?

Go by the motorcycle model, or by the length if you do not give one. If you have side cases or a tall screen, take a bigger size.

Can I cover a hot engine?

It is better to wait until it cools, because a hot exhaust can damage the fabric.

How long is a request active?

7 days, and you can extend it.
