Home vacuum cleaner: upright, wet-and-dry, bagged or cyclonic

Not the “most powerful” one, but the one that suits your home

The wattage on the box says little about cleaning: what counts is suction, filtration and the brush. So first describe your home: the area, rugs or laminate, pets that shed, children, whether you are doing renovation work. A flat with parquet and a cat needs a different vacuum cleaner from a house with long-pile carpets.

What to put in your request

  • type of vacuum cleaner — robot, cordless stick, classic with a bag or a bin, wet-and-dry, workshop;
  • model — for example Dyson V15;
  • new or used;
  • features — wet cleaning, self-emptying dock, map and app, HEPA filter, suction power, run time;
  • what it is for — area, pet hair, rugs, construction dust;
  • warranty, delivery with your city and budget.

Example: “I need a cordless vacuum cleaner for a 750 sq ft flat in Abu Dhabi with a cat and a rug, up to 60 minutes of run time, HEPA filter. New, with brand warranty. Courier delivery, budget up to AED 1,100.”

Types and their weak points

  • Cordless stick is handy for daily cleaning, but battery capacity is limited and the battery weakens after a few years. Ask whether you can buy a battery separately.
  • Bagged is cheaper to run and good for people with allergies, since the dust stays in the bag, but you have to keep buying bags.
  • Cyclonic (bin) needs no bags, but the bin has to be emptied and the filters washed.
  • Wet-and-dry vacuums and washes the floor, but is heavier, bigger and needs the tanks looked after.
  • Robot vacuum keeps the floor clean every day, but doesn't replace a full clean. There is a separate category for those.

What to check when comparing

Noise level, weight, bin capacity, cord length or battery run time. Ask about consumables: filters, bags, brushes, and whether they are available and at what price. For a used one, ask about its age, the condition of the battery and the motor, and whether it has lost suction.

When you compare offers, watch for equal terms: one seller includes extra attachments and a spare filter in the price, another expects you to buy them separately. For cordless models, ask whether a battery can be ordered separately and for how many years the maker supplies them for this series.

How it works with BlaBlaPrice

You describe your task on BlaBlaPrice, the request is checked, and sellers of appliances reply in chat with the model, price and delivery. They can see where their offer stands and compete with each other, so the terms often improve. The best-value offer is shown first, with reviews next to it. Your phone number stays hidden, and only the seller you choose gets your contacts. Details on the How it works page.

If you want to automate cleaning, see robot vacuum cleaners. And to restore an old appliance, you may need spare parts for home appliances.

Questions and answers

Which vacuum cleaner is better for someone with allergies?

One with good filtration, such as HEPA, and a sealed bin or bag. Say so in your request and sellers will suggest suitable models.

Is a cordless vacuum cleaner enough as the main one?

For a small flat, usually yes, but a large home with rugs often needs a corded one as well. It depends on the area and the floor types.

Can I buy a used vacuum cleaner?

Yes, if the seller confirms the condition of the motor and the battery. Ask about warranty and consumables.

Does the buyer pay for BlaBlaPrice?

No, it is free for buyers. A seller pays a small fee only when you choose them.
