Event supplies hire: furniture, marquees, crockery and decor
Start with the number of guests and the type of event
Everything else depends on these two things. A wedding for 60 guests needs about as many chairs and 6–8 round tables, while a cocktail party needs high tables and fewer seats. A corporate event outdoors almost always needs a marquee, and sometimes flooring and heaters or coolers as well.
Once you know the guests, the format and the place, the other details fall into place quickly. If you do not know where to start, say so in your request: hire companies will tell you how much people usually take for that number of guests.
What to put in your request
- What to hire — tables, chairs, marquee, crockery, sound, lighting, photo booth, decor.
- Quantity — for example, 80 chairs and 10 tables.
- Event and guests — wedding, birthday, conference; how many people.
- Date and duration — one day or a weekend, and when the items can be collected.
- Style — tablecloth colour, type of chairs, for example white Chiavari.
- Delivery and pick-up after the event — check both directions separately.
- Set-up — whether you need the marquee, stage or arch to be put up.
- Venue — city, village, open ground or a hall, which floor and whether there is a lift.
- Budget, if you want to name one.
Example request
“I need a 6×12 m marquee with set-up, 10 round tables, 80 white Chiavari chairs and tablecloths for 30 November, for one day. Venue: Sohna, near Sydney. Delivery and pick-up the next morning needed. Budget up to $1,000.”
How to compare offers
In this category it is easy to compare things that are not alike. Ask each company: are delivery, set-up, dismantling and cleaning already in the price? Are the delivery day and the pick-up day counted as separate days? Sometimes a lower price just means that tablecloths, covers and fixings are charged separately.
Also ask about spare items in case of damage, the return rules (do you have to wash the crockery) and the deposit. For a marquee, find out about the covering and whether it has wind guy ropes; for sound, whether a technician comes along.
How BlaBlaPrice helps
You write one request, and hire companies reply in the chat with offers: what is included, the price or what it depends on, the date, delivery. Each one sees where its offer stands among the others, so the terms get better. Contacts are hidden and are opened only to the hire company you choose. Read how it all works on the page “How it works”.
The event date is the main limit. The most popular dates are booked well in advance, so post your request early. For a camping-style event, see sports and camping gear hire, and for big machinery, equipment hire.
