How to find a sales representative: route, outlets and vehicle
The route and the outlet base decide everything
A sales representative visits shops, kiosks and establishments, takes orders, offers the range, collects payments due and watches the display. Their results depend on what you give them: a ready list of outlets or a search from scratch, how many are on the route and whether they are close together.
Sixty outlets on a route with regular visits is one job, and finding clients across a whole region is quite another. Candidates understand this very well, so don't hide it.
How search works on BlaBlaPrice
You write one job request in your own words, and candidates answer in chat: they tell you about their experience, their area, their vehicle and the pay they expect. Before it is shown, the request is checked, ads and contact details are removed from the text, and you get hints on what to add.
Your number is hidden and goes only to the chosen candidate. The post is active for 7 days and can be extended. It is free for the employer. More on how it works.
What to put in the job post
- Products — food, drinks, household cleaners, other;
- Outlets — how many on the route, whether there is a ready base, how often to visit;
- Workplace — city and district, for example Brisbane and the surrounding district;
- Vehicle — own bike or car with reimbursement, or company vehicle;
- Pay — fixed pay and a percentage of shipments;
- Hours — six-day week, 8 to 5;
- Terms and experience — on the payroll, how many years on a route.
Example: “Sales representative needed for food products, Brisbane and the surrounding district. 60 outlets on the route, base provided. Own bike with reimbursement, six-day week, 8 to 5. Fixed pay plus a percentage of shipments, on the payroll, 1+ year as a sales representative.”
How to compare replies
Ask how many outlets the candidate handled and what the shipment volumes were at the previous job. It also matters how they deal with refusals and returns. Good representatives talk about clients by name and remember each one's terms.
Discuss the vehicle in advance: who pays for fuel and servicing, and whether the reimbursement depends on distance. This is one of the main topics where expectations differ.
Describe the reporting too: does the representative record orders in an app, collect payments, and how do they pass on information about stock on the shelves? It helps you see the real picture and helps the candidate understand the amount of paperwork.
