Satellite TV: buy a dish and set-top box and order installation
Equipment, set-up or everything together
With satellite TV you buy more than hardware. A kit usually consists of a dish, a converter (LNB), a receiver or set-top box and cable, and then you also need installation and aiming at the satellite. You can take just the equipment, just the service, or everything turnkey, and that decides the final price.
So in your request say right away what you need: a new system, a replacement receiver, re-tuning, or just a replacement set-top box.
What to put in your request
- what you need - dish, receiver or set-top box, converter, or installation, set-up, repair;
- your location - city or village, because the technician's travel depends on it;
- satellite or service - which channels and which service you want;
- number of TVs - for two or more TVs you need a converter with several outputs or separate cables;
- installation conditions - roof or wall, which floor, the cable length needed;
- equipment - dish diameter (for example, 0.9 m), receiver model;
- new or used and budget, including “with installation”.
Example: “I need a 0.9 m satellite dish with a converter and a receiver for two TVs. To be fitted on the roof of a two-storey house in a village near Adelaide. Budget up to $57 including installation.”
What the price depends on
The dish diameter depends on the satellite and the region: a weaker signal needs a larger reflector. The larger it is, the more stable the reception in rain. A receiver that supports the formats you need and has a CAM slot costs differently from the simplest one. Add the cost of cable, mounts and the height of the installation.
When you compare offers, see whether the price includes cable, mounts, the visit, set-up and a warranty on the work. A cheap kit without installation can end up costing more than a complete one.
Common mistakes
Putting the dish where a tree or a neighbouring building blocks it: the signal will be unstable. Buying cable “by eye” and then buying more. Not checking which satellites you need: a system for one does not always receive another without an extra converter. And forgetting that an old receiver may not support modern formats.
How it works through BlaBlaPrice
You describe the task once on BlaBlaPrice, and sellers and technicians in your area reply in a chat: what they offer, how much it costs, whether installation is included and when they can come. They see where their offer stands and often improve their terms. The best offer by content is shown first, with reviews next to it. Your phone is hidden, and only the one you choose gets the contact.
