Computers and components: how to build or buy at a good price
Ready-made PC or a custom build
The first decision is whether to buy a ready-made computer or build one from separate parts. A ready-made PC is simpler and has one warranty for the whole machine. A custom build lets you avoid paying for what you don't need and makes it easy to upgrade the weak spot later, such as the graphics card or the RAM.
Whichever you choose, first define the task: office work, video editing, gaming or a server for a small business. That sets the budget and shows where you can save.
Where to look
- Desktops and servers. Desktop computers and servers: processor, memory size, storage type, whether a licensed OS is included and what the warranty is.
- Parts for a build. PC components and graphics cards: socket and memory compatibility, power supply rating, cabinet size. For used graphics cards, ask about crypto-mining use and the state of the cooling.
- Display and input. Monitors (size, panel type, refresh rate) and peripherals: keyboards, mice, webcams.
- Data storage. External drives, memory cards and pen drives: capacity, speed, interface, card class.
- Printing and network. Printers, all-in-ones and scanners, cartridges, and routers and networking equipment.
- Software. Software and licences: validity period, number of devices, licence type.
How to compare offers
Complex configurations are easy to compare wrongly. Check that the processor and its generation are the same, that the memory is the same size and runs in dual channel, and that the SSD is NVMe and not the slower SATA. Check whether the price includes the OS, assembly, testing and a warranty on the whole system, not just on single parts.
A printer is a good deal only together with the cost of printing, so ask about the cartridge yield and whether compatible ones are available. For a router, the Wi-Fi standard, the number of ports and the coverage area matter.
How it works through BlaBlaPrice
You describe your request in your own words: what you need, what for, in which city, new or used. You can add one photo, for example a parts list or a compatibility screenshot. The request is checked, with no ads and no stray contacts, and you get hints about what is missing.
Sellers of computer equipment reply in the chat with specifics: model, price, availability, warranty. BlaBlaPrice shows the best offer by value first, and sellers see their place among the others and improve their terms. Your phone number stays hidden. Read more on the “How it works” page.
Common mistakes
Buying components without checking compatibility, taking a weak power supply to save money, and forgetting about cooling. People often forget that a printer needs cartridges, and that a new graphics card needs space in the cabinet and enough power. For used equipment, ask for a video of it working and a stress test.
Warranty, service and office sets
In computer equipment the warranty matters as much as the price. Ask how long it lasts, who gives it, the shop or the manufacturer, and whether you have to send the part for service yourself. For a custom build, ask for a separate list of parts with serial numbers, and the bill.
If you buy parts from different sellers, check compatibility twice, especially the motherboard with the processor and memory. One wrong component wipes out the whole saving.
For an office with a shared network and printer, state your needs in one request: the number of workstations, the print volume, whether you need Wi-Fi. Then sellers will suggest a matched set, not a random collection of devices.
