Buying medical equipment for a clinic or practice
Documents come first
When you buy medical equipment for a clinic or a private practice, price is only part of the talk. It matters just as much whether the device has its compliance and registration papers and a user manual in a language your staff can read. Without them you can run into problems using it. So ask the seller about documents before you discuss a discount, and check that they are issued for the exact model on offer, not a similar one.
On BlaBlaPrice you describe what you need and suppliers send offers with prices and terms. You don't have to call companies one by one.
What to put in your request
- type of equipment — dental chair unit, ultrasound machine, ECG, oxygen concentrator, examination couch, sterilizer;
- model — for example Mindray DC-30; the brand alone tells only part of the story;
- configuration — probes, functions, power, colour Doppler;
- condition — new or used, working order, year of manufacture;
- certificates — compliance and registration papers for the device;
- installation and training — whether you need setup and staff instruction;
- warranty — length and service support;
- quantity, delivery city, budget.
Example: “I need a Mindray DC-30 ultrasound machine with two probes and colour Doppler, new or used in working order and not older than 5 years. With compliance papers, installation and staff training, warranty of at least 12 months. Delivery to Calgary, budget up to $17,000.”
New or used
New equipment comes with an official warranty and service support. Used costs less, but the risks are higher. Ask for the year of manufacture, hours of use, repair history, and whether spare parts and service are available in Canada. A good seller will show the device working and provide documents. For using second-hand equipment in clinical work, it is better to take advice from a specialist.
Service, consumables and training
A device also brings later costs: probes, electrodes, filters, calibration, maintenance. Ask who provides service, how fast an engineer can come and whether spare parts are available. For complex equipment (a dental unit, ultrasound) training of staff and commissioning make a big difference, so check whether they are in the price.
How to compare offers
Sellers reply in the chat with the model, configuration, price, warranty and timing. BlaBlaPrice compares the replies and shows the best one for you first, with seller reviews next to it. Sellers can see where their offer stands and may improve their terms.
Compare the same configuration: a machine that is cheaper because it has no probes or no warranty is not a saving. A common mistake is paying without checking the documents. For lab instruments there is a separate category, laboratory equipment, and for cosmetology rooms, beauty salon equipment.
