Scaffolding hire for facades, repairs and finishing
Types of scaffolding and what they are for
Frame scaffolding is the most common for facades: it is quickly assembled from standard sections and suits straight walls. Cuplock (modular) scaffolding is better than frame for complex shapes: bay windows, domes, interiors with level changes. Tube-and-clamp gives flexibility but takes longer to assemble. For repairs indoors or spot work, a mobile tower on wheels is handy.
So in your request it is important to say not just “I need scaffolding” but also what you will do. For wall insulation, painting, replacing windows or roof repair the sets are different.
What to put in your request
- Type — frame, cuplock, tube-and-clamp or a mobile tower.
- Facade area — in square metres, or the length of the wall to be covered.
- Height — the level you will work to, for example 12 m.
- Period — a month or several; plastering and painting take longer than they seem.
- Erection and dismantling — by yourselves or by the hire company's crew.
- Delivery — to the site and back.
- Deposit — whether you will leave one or want none.
- Site address — city, area; access for a truck.
- Budget, if you want to name one.
Example request
“I need frame scaffolding for the facade of a two-storey house: about 2,000 sq ft, height 12 m, for 2 months. Erection and dismantling by a crew, delivery to the site needed. Toronto, budget up to $490 per month.”
Safety and completeness
Scaffolding is about safety, so the set must be complete: frames, diagonal braces, platforms, guard rails, base plates or jacks, and ties to the wall. Ask whether it has a test certificate, whether the tubes are bent, and whether the locks are intact. Leave erection to an experienced crew, especially at heights above a few metres.
Pay attention to the base: on soft ground you need pads so the scaffolding does not sink. If the facade has projections or a canopy, discuss the position of the ties beforehand.
How to compare offers
Ask whether the price is per square metre, per set or per month. Find out what happens if the period grows, and whether delivery, erection and dismantling are charged separately. One offer may look cheaper but not include platforms or guard rails. So compare the set part by part.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You write one request, and scaffolding owners and crews reply in the chat with the set, price and terms. They see where their offer stands and improve their terms. Contacts stay hidden until you choose. Details on the page “How it works”. For building work you may also need formwork hire and equipment hire.
