SEO for your website: how to order it and not overpay
Where to start before ordering SEO
SEO is not a one-time button but work over several months. The first visible changes in rankings usually don't appear at once, and an honest specialist will tell you that in advance. So even before the request, decide what you need: a site audit, technical fixes, keyword research, texts for the pages, links or full ongoing management.
If the site is new or has never been promoted, people usually start with an audit: indexing, speed, duplicate pages, structure. If traffic has suddenly dropped, first find the cause (a penalty, a technical error, an algorithm change), and only then plan the promotion.
What to put in your request
Without these details an SEO specialist can't estimate the scope, and the offers won't be comparable:
- what you need — full promotion, a technical audit, fixing errors, keyword research, link building;
- type of site — online store, company site, landing page, blog; how many pages or products;
- niche — what you sell or offer, how strong the competition is;
- platform — WordPress, OpenCart, Shopify or a custom-built site;
- region and language — all of Canada, one city, English or other-language results;
- goal — traffic, rankings for keywords, number of enquiries;
- current state — age of the site, visits, whether SEO was done before, whether there were penalties;
- format — a one-time job or monthly support;
- budget for the service — separate from ad spend, if you want to name one.
Example request: “An online bathroom fittings store on OpenCart, about 3,000 products, across Canada, in English. I need a technical SEO audit and a plan of fixes, then possibly monthly management. The site is 2 years old with 500 visitors a month. Budget for the audit up to $340.”
How to compare offers from SEO specialists
Two offers with the same sum can contain completely different things. See what exactly is included: whether there is an audit at the start, who writes the texts, whether buying links is counted in the price, how often there will be a report. Plain “promotion” without a list of work is a reason to ask.
- Ask by which indicators you will be judged: rankings, traffic or enquiries. Rankings alone without sales can mislead.
- Ask for examples of similar projects and access to analytics to check the results.
- Be careful with promises like “top 1 in a week”: the result depends on the niche and the competitors.
- Find out whether you keep access to all accounts and materials if you end the cooperation.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You don't search for specialists through portfolios or write to each one: it is enough to create a request in your own words. It is checked before it is shown, and you get hints about which details providers lack. Then SEO specialists and agencies reply with offers in the chat: what they will do, what it costs or what the price depends on, and for how long.
BlaBlaPrice shows the most useful offer first, with reviews of the provider beside each one. Providers see where they stand, so they often improve their terms. Your phone number is hidden: contacts go only to the one you choose. More on how it works.
If you also need texts for the pages, see copywriting, and for quick enquiries while the site gets going, search ads.
