Soft toys: how to choose a teddy bear or a favourite character
Size decides the price most
A small plush toy and a teddy bear one and a half metres tall are different products, and not only in size. Big toys need more material and are harder to pack and deliver, so they cost noticeably more. If you are looking for a toy as a gift, decide straight away where it will stand and whether it will fit through the door.
Through BlaBlaPrice you describe your request once, and sellers reply in the chat: what exactly, size, price, delivery. It is free for buyers.
What to put in your request
- What kind of toy — a plush teddy bear, bunny, dog, cartoon character: Huggy Wuggy, Stitch.
- Size — height or length, for example 1.5 m.
- Colour — beige, pink, white.
- Material and filling — soft plush, hypoallergenic filling, safe for a baby.
- Features — musical, talking, light-up, with a heat pack or weighted.
- Child's age — a baby needs models without small parts.
- Condition — new or used.
- Budget and delivery city.
Example: “I need a big beige plush teddy bear, 1.5 m tall, soft plush, new. Doorstep delivery in Toronto, budget up to $51.”
Safety for small children
For babies, choose toys without plastic eyes and noses that could be pulled off: embroidered ones are better. Check the seams; the filling should be evenly spread, with no lumps. Hypoallergenic filling matters if your child is prone to allergies. It is useful to wash a new toy before first use, but look at the label first.
Big and functional toys
Don't choose a big teddy bear “from the photo”: ask how much it weighs and what it is made of, because cheap models can lose their shape. Toys with a heat pack or weighted ones (for calming) have their own rules of use, so read the instructions. Check musical models for volume and whether the sound can be switched off.
If you are buying a gift, think about colour and look: classic teddies and bunnies fit any room, and cartoon characters quickly become favourites.
How to compare offers
- The real size, not just “big”: ideally from a photo next to a person.
- Whether the composition of the material and filling is stated.
- Whether bulky-item delivery is included in the price.
- Whether you can return the toy if it doesn't match the description.
The platform shows the offer with the best value first, with reviews next to it. Sellers see where they stand among the others and can improve their terms. Contacts are opened only to the seller you choose.
For the littlest ones, rattles and mobiles may suit, and for story play, dolls and baby dolls. More ideas are in the “Toys” section.
