Electric Scooter and Hoverboard Parts: How to Buy at a Good Price
What breaks most often
Electric scooters and hoverboards fail in predictable places. Wheels: punctures, worn tyres, damaged tubes. Brakes: pads, cable, disc. Electronics: controller, display, charger. The battery slowly loses capacity. Folding scooters also have a folding mechanism, which starts to develop play over time. Hoverboards have their own weak spots: the position sensors on the board and worn hub motors. So in your request it is better to describe the symptom directly, for example “won’t switch on” or “brake doesn’t hold”, and add a photo of the faulty part. First work out which part you actually need: otherwise you will have to buy twice.
Parameters you cannot choose without
For tyres and tubes the main things are size and type: for example 10×2.5, tubeless or solid. For the battery and controller, the voltage (36 V, 48 V), capacity and current matter. A hub motor is chosen by power and diameter. A charger must match in voltage and plug type. Do not guess: look at the marking on the old part and give the model, for example Xiaomi M365 Pro.
What to put in your request
- which part — controller, battery, hub motor, tyre, display, charger, brake, folding mechanism, deck;
- scooter model — brand and model;
- parameters — tyre size, voltage, Ah, motor power;
- original or aftermarket;
- condition — new, used or from a breaker;
- quantity;
- fitting at a service centre, if you need it fitted;
- delivery (for example courier delivery to Tuen Mun) and budget.
Example: “I need a new 10×2.5 tyre and tube for a Xiaomi M365 Pro, 2 pcs. Aftermarket of decent quality. Ideally fitted at a service centre in Tuen Mun or delivered by courier, budget up to HK$190.”
A new part or one from a breaker
Controllers and displays from a breaker are cheaper, but check that they worked on your exact model and firmware version. Used batteries are a risk: ask about the number of cycles and whether the capacity was measured. Lithium-ion batteries are dangerous when damaged, so do not buy a cheap battery with no markings. For tyres and brake pads, new is better. An original Xiaomi part or an aftermarket one: decide by budget and whether there is a warranty.
How BlaBlaPrice helps here
You do not need to write to dozens of shops. You make one request, and sellers reply in the chat: what exactly they offer, the price, availability, delivery, and whether fitting is available. Each sees where their offer stands, so they aim for better terms. The site shows the best-value one first. Contacts are hidden. How it all works is on the “How it works” page.
If the scooter needs to be brought back to life, you may also need a different type of battery or drive and running gear.
