Medical clothing: where to buy scrubs and gowns at a good price
The fabric decides everything
Medical clothing is worn for 8-12 hours, so what counts is not the colour but how it behaves after ten washes. Cheap fabric shrinks, pills and loses its shape before the first month is out.
Most often it is sewn from cotton or cotton-polyester blends: they are tougher and crease less. Cotton with stretch suits active work, for example for nurses and doctors who bend all day. An antibacterial finish can be useful, but ask whether it survives washing. For frequent hot washing, choose a denser fabric.
What to buy: scrubs, a gown or a cap
A surgical scrub suit is a V-neck tunic with trousers on elastic or a drawstring. A gown is for doctors seeing patients, and in labs and dentistry closed gowns with long sleeves are common. Caps, shoe covers and aprons are ordered separately. For a large clinic it helps to agree on colours, since they tell departments and roles apart.
What to put in your request
- What exactly — scrub suit, gown, tunic, cap, trousers;
- For whom — women's, men's or unisex;
- Size and height — for a team, better to provide a size table;
- Fabric — cotton, stretch cotton, blend, antibacterial;
- Colour — navy, green, teal, white;
- Quantity — the price per set is often lower for a few dozen;
- Logo — embroidery of the clinic name, on the chest or sleeve;
- Brand and budget — optional, price per set.
Example: “I need 15 women's scrub suits for a dental clinic, navy, stretch cotton, sizes S to XXL (I will send the size table). Logo embroidery on the pocket. Delivery to Sha Tin, budget up to HK$94 per suit.”
How to compare offers
See what is included in the price of the set: whether embroidery is included or charged separately per piece, and whether you can swap sizes after trying on. Ask for photos of real products and the fabric composition from the label. For an order with embroidery, check the timing: tailoring and embroidery usually take longer than sending ready stock.
On BlaBlaPrice you describe the request once, and sellers and tailors reply with prices and terms. They can see where they stand among the others and can improve their offer, so the price often turns out better. The best-value offer is shown first, with reviews beside it. Only the chosen seller gets your contacts. More on the “How it works” page.
Common mistakes
People order the whole lot without a trial suit, and then the cut turns out wrong for the team. They do not check how much the fabric shrinks in the wash. They forget that some staff need different sizes for top and bottom.
For one-off needs look at disposable clothing, and for other professions, work clothing.
