Wallets, makeup bags and card holders: how to choose and buy well
Leather, faux leather or fabric
You use a wallet every day, so the material decides everything. Genuine leather develops a patina over time and lasts for years. Faux leather is cheaper but can crack at the folds. Makeup bags are often made of fabric with a water-resistant lining, because spills from tubes and brushes wipe off easily. Ask the seller whether the leather is full-grain or buffed, and whether there is a lining, since both affect the price.
One more trap: “genuine leather” in a listing can mean glued scraps. Ask for a photo of the cut edge or the stitching, and don't hesitate to ask questions.
For makeup bags, look at the zip: metal is stronger but can scratch, plastic is lighter. The inner lining should be easy to wash or wipe. For card holders, the stiffness of the case matters, so cards don't bend in your pocket.
Original or replica
For branded items, say Tommy Hilfiger, decide whether you want the original, and say so plainly. Ask for the product papers, photos of the tag, the packaging and the original hardware, and for expensive models, proof of where it came from. Replica or not, the seller should state it honestly in the offer.

How to get a good offer
Wallets that look the same can differ by a noticeable amount just because of the material and hardware. Instead of scrolling through catalogues, create a request once. Sellers reply in the chat with a price, photos and terms. The platform shows the best offer first, judged on what it actually offers, and adds reviews of the seller. Each seller sees their place in the list, so they compete for your choice.
When comparing, check the material, the number of slots, whether a box is included and whether you can return the item if it doesn't suit you. Buying a gift? Ask about engraving and packaging in advance. Only the seller you choose sees your contacts, and the page “How it works” explains the service.
You may also want belts in the same material, and for a women's look, bags.
