Hang glider or paramotor: how to buy a wing at a good price
The wing, the engine and the pilot must match
This category covers hang gliders, paragliders and paramotors. They are different things, so first decide exactly what you need. A paraglider with no engine suits training and slope flying, a paramotor adds an engine with a frame and propeller, and a hang glider has a rigid frame and a quite different flying technique.
The main rule: the wing is chosen for the pilot's weight together with the equipment. If the take-off weight falls outside the range the maker states, safety drops, even if the wing looks perfect.
What to put in your request
The more specific the request, the fewer extra questions:
- Type of craft — hang glider, paraglider or paramotor.
- Model and size — for example Ozone Buzz Z7, with the wing size.
- Pilot weight — with equipment, because the size is chosen by it.
- Pilot level — beginner, intermediate, experienced; the class of wing depends on it.
- Engine — for a paramotor, for example Vittorazi Moster 185, and its condition.
- Year — the oldest you accept.
- Hours — how many hours the wing or engine has flown.
- Condition — whether the lines have been checked, and when the fabric was tested.
- City and budget, if you want to state it.
Example: “I need a paramotor for a beginner, pilot weight 85 kg. A wing like an Ozone Buzz Z7 not older than 2019, with a Vittorazi Moster 185 engine with up to 100 hours. I want the lines and fabric checked. Johor Bahru, budget up to RM 14,000.”
What to look at on a used wing
Fabric ages from sun and moisture. Ask to see the canopy against the light, to have the air permeability checked, and ask about washing, launches on rocks and landings in water. Lines stretch over time, so their length and strength should be measured. An honest seller will easily say how many hours the wing has flown.
On a paramotor, check separately the frame, how evenly the propeller turns, vibration, and the condition of the harness and the fuel system. If even a small part raises doubts, it is better to bring in a specialist to inspect it.
How to compare offers
Compare the same class of wing, size and year. Look at what is in the kit: harness, reserve parachute, radio, helmet, transport bag. A new kit and a used one without a reserve parachute are different things, even if the prices seem close.
For a beginner it is safer to take a lower-class wing with a good reputation, not one that is faster and more demanding. If you are starting out, it is good to take lessons with an instructor first.
How searching through BlaBlaPrice works
Instead of scrolling through listings and writing to each seller, create a request once. It is checked, you are told what is missing, and sellers reply in the chat with prices, photos and terms. BlaBlaPrice shows the best-value offer first, with reviews next to it. Sellers see their place and can improve their terms. Contacts open only to the one you choose. Details are on the “How it works” page.
If you need a machine with a cabin, look at helicopters or aircraft.
