Parts for the Rover 75 and other models: finding a rare part
Why Rover parts are hard to find
The Rover brand is long gone: the maker MG Rover stopped operating in 2005, so there are almost no new original parts. Few breakers in New Zealand take such cars apart, and some parts turn up rarely. Do not expect a quick reply from the first seller: it is better to post a request and give the breakers time to check their stock.
Some units may match MG, but check this by the part number, not by what a seller says.
Right-hand drive: a point for headlights
Many Rover 75s came from the UK, where cars are right-hand drive and traffic keeps to the left. Headlights from such cars have a beam pattern made for driving on the left, so they suit roads with left-hand traffic. Headlights from left-hand-drive cars have the opposite pattern, so ask the seller which market the part comes from. Otherwise you will have to change the optics, adjust them or stick a film on the lens.
Another trap is the mounts. Old headlights often have broken lugs, and the seller may not mention it. Ask for photos of the back.
The Rover 75 was built as a saloon and as the Tourer estate, and some body parts, the rear lights and the glass differ between them. So give the body type in the request, and for the interior say cloth or leather. For the 25 and 45, say hatchback or saloon, and the facelift year, because bumpers and lights changed after the update.
What to put in your request
- Model — for example, Rover 75, 25 or 45;
- Part — front headlight, bumper, door and so on;
- Year;
- Engine — for example, 1.8 petrol;
- Side;
- Colour — green, grey, blue and so on;
- Condition — intact, no cracks;
- VIN;
- Delivery city and budget.
Example: “Rover 75, 2003, 1.8 petrol, right-hand drive. I need a right front headlight, intact, no cracks and with the mounts whole, for driving on the left. A photo of the back is a must. Courier delivery to Tauranga. Budget up to $120.”
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
When a part is rare, you do not know whom to ask. On BlaBlaPrice you only write one request: breakers and sellers who work with such cars will see it. Whoever has the part replies in the chat with a price and photos. The platform shows the best-value offer first, and seller reviews help you choose between similar ones. Your phone number stays hidden until you choose a seller. Read more on the “How it works” page.
Look for other brands in the car breakers section, for example Ford.
