Welder jobs abroad: how to find a MIG, TIG or MMA specialist

Method and certificates

Abroad, a welder is first judged by the method. Methods are marked with standard codes: MMA (111) is manual arc welding, MIG/MAG (135) is semi-automatic gas-shielded welding, TIG (141) is argon arc welding. For critical structures, employers often require an EN ISO 9606 certificate. Name the method, the material (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium) and whether a certificate is needed, otherwise the wrong people will reply.

How it works on BlaBlaPrice

You describe the job once, in your own words. You don't need to choose a category. The request is checked: no ads or contacts in the text, with hints about what else to add. Welders reply in chat and tell you about their method, experience and when they can travel. The phone number stays hidden, and only the candidate you choose gets your contacts. A request stays live for 7 days. More on the How it works page.

What to put in the job post

  • Welding method — MMA 111, MIG/MAG 135, TIG 141.
  • Certificates — EN ISO 9606 and others, if needed.
  • Experience — how many years and with which materials.
  • Pay — for example, $30 per hour.
  • Place of work — country and city.
  • Schedule — for example, 6 days on, 1 off, 10 hours a day.
  • Paperwork — formal employment, contract, work visa.
  • Accommodation — provided by the employer or not.

Example: “Czech Republic, Brno: TIG 141 welder needed for stainless steel, EN ISO 9606 certificate, 3+ years of experience. 6 days a week, 10 hours a day, $30 per hour, formal employment with a work visa, accommodation from the employer.”

How to check a candidate

Ask for a copy of the certificate with its validity date and range of approval: thickness, weld position, material. Ask what sites he has worked on: pipelines, steel structures, ships. Many employers run a test weld, and that is normal, so say in advance whether there will be one.

Describe the equipment, whether work clothing is provided, and who pays for travel. State at once whether pay is gross or net. Rules for employing foreigners depend on the country, so check official sources.

Stainless steel and aluminium demand more than mild steel: a clean weld, the right shielding gas and experience with thin metal. So don't look for an “all-rounder”; describe the scope of tasks clearly.

Common mistakes

Writing just “welder” with no method. Not asking for proof of the certificate. Not mentioning the test weld. For related trades, there are construction workers and general labourers.

If you are looking for work

Welders just need to register on BlaBlaPrice as a service provider, pick this category and region, and reply to job posts. The employer simply creates a request.

Questions and answers

Which welding method should I state?

The one the person will actually work with: MMA 111, MIG/MAG 135 or TIG 141. The method decides who can apply.

Is a certificate required?

For critical work it is often required, for example EN ISO 9606. Say so in your request so that certified specialists reply.

Should I run a test weld?

It is common practice. Tell candidates in advance and agree on payment for the test day.

Who will see my contacts?

Only the candidate you choose.
