Appliance and electronics hire: how to rent at a good price
First the task, then the device
People hire what they need for a few days: a projector for a presentation, a laptop for a business trip, a drone for filming, a TV for an event, a lens for one project. So the first question is not “which model” but “what do I need to achieve”. For a projector it is the size of the hall and the lighting, for a drone the permission to fly where you shoot and the video quality.
If you are not sure what will fit, describe the task in words. The equipment owners will tell you whether a budget model is enough or you should take a more powerful one.
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
Instead of calling hire companies and private owners, you write one request: what you need, for which dates and where. You do not have to choose a category, the site works it out. Before it is shown, the request is checked and you get hints about missing details.
Then equipment owners reply in the chat: which model, price per day or for the whole term, whether a deposit is needed, whether delivery is available. They see where their offer stands and improve their terms to win your request. Your phone stays hidden, and contacts go only to the one you choose. It is free for the renter. More on the “How it works” page.
What to put in your request
- What to rent — projector, laptop, camera, drone, console, TV, lens.
- Model — if you have already chosen, for example Sony A7 III; the brand alone is less precise.
- Specifications — brightness in lumens, resolution, focal length, memory size.
- Quantity — how many units you need.
- Term — dates or number of days; say whether the day of collection counts.
- What for — a conference, video, training, home viewing.
- Delivery and setup — bring it to the place or collect it yourself.
- Deposit — whether you can leave one or are looking for hire without it.
- City, neighbourhood and budget, if you want to name one.
Example: “I need a projector of at least 4,000 lumens, Full HD, with a screen and an HDMI cable for 2 days, 12 and 13 November, for a presentation to 60 people. Manila, city centre, I need delivery and setup, budget up to ₱2,200 a day.”
How to compare offers for electronics hire
Compare by what is in the set, not by the price per day. One offer may include cables, a bag, chargers and a screen, another only the unit. Ask what condition the equipment is in, how long ago it was bought and whether it is tested before it is handed over.
Look at the size of the deposit and how it is returned. Find out what happens if something breaks or is scratched: who pays and by which rules. Also ask whether there is a spare unit if yours fails during the event.
Common mistakes
- Forgetting cables, adapters and power, and then looking for them on the day of the event.
- Taking equipment without testing it on site, especially for a presentation.
- Not noticing that the price often depends on the term: for several days the price per day can be lower than for one.
If you need filming equipment with an operator, also look at the neighbouring sections: event supplies hire or tool hire. All the directions are gathered in the “Rentals and hire” section.
