Fence or boundary wall: how to order materials and installation at a good price
Measure the perimeter first
A fence is priced by its length in metres and its height. So take a measuring tape or pace out the plot boundary, and add the gate and the small gate as a separate line. Allow for uneven ground: on a slope the section lengths and post heights change, and installation costs more. These numbers make the offers specific from the start.
What to choose from
- Profiled metal sheets — solid, inexpensive and quick to install. Metal thickness and coating matter (galvanised, polymer, painted on one or both sides).
- Slatted metal or wooden fence — lets light and wind through and looks neat. It can be one- or two-sided, in different widths.
- Chain-link mesh and welded 3D panels — see-through and inexpensive, good for large plots and farm land.
- Wooden, concrete and wrought iron — costlier, but long-lasting and good-looking.
Choose the height by purpose: for privacy a solid fence of about 2 m is common, and a lower mesh is enough just to mark the boundary. Before installation, check the local rules on fence height and transparency between neighbours.
Posts and foundation
It is the posts that hold a fence up. They are usually concreted in to a depth that depends on the soil and the height of the fence. The spacing between them and the number of rails (cross beams) decide how rigid it is. This is where saving money most often ends in a crooked fence, so ask which pipe and wall thickness will be used.
What to put in your request
- Type of fence — metal sheets, slatted, chain-link, 3D panels, wrought-iron sections.
- Length — for example 80 m.
- Height — 2 m or another.
- Thickness and coating — 0.45 mm, painted on both sides.
- Colour — a RAL code, for example 8017.
- Components — posts, rails, gate and small gate, screws, caps.
- Installation — with concreting of posts, or material only.
- Address and budget — for example up to ₱760 per metre.
Example: “I need a solid fence of 0.45 mm profiled sheets, RAL 8017, painted on both sides, 80 m long and 2 m high, with posts, rails, a gate and a small gate. I need installation with concreted posts. Manila, budget up to ₱760 per metre.”
Why it is handy to collect offers on BlaBlaPrice
A fence is often bought in one place and put up by other people, which makes things harder. In the request you describe everything at once, and sellers and installation crews answer in the chat: material, price per metre or for the whole perimeter, timing, and whether installation is included. Each of them sees where their offer ranks and can improve the terms. BlaBlaPrice shows the best offer first, with the seller's reviews next to it. Your phone number is opened only to the contractor you choose. More in how it works.
How to compare
Check the metal thickness, the coating, the diameter and wall thickness of the post pipes, and the number of rails. Two offers with the same price per metre can be very different if one uses 60×60 mm posts and the other 40×40 mm. Ask whether the price includes digging, concrete and removal of soil. For the frame you will need steel products, for fixing — fasteners, and for wooden sections — timber.
