How to find a freight forwarder: delivery, invoices, retail outlets
A forwarder also handles documents
A forwarder does not just carry goods: he receives cargo at the warehouse, checks invoices, delivers to outlets, collects signatures and returns the paperwork. A mistake in the figures or a lost invoice costs money. So besides a driving licence, accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to deal with customers matter.
Describe what the person will deliver: drinks, groceries, building materials, pharmacy goods. Weight, temperature requirements and the need for help with unloading depend on it.
Also explain the rhythm of work: how many stops a day and whether the person must help with unloading. In the morning the forwarder usually loads up and checks invoices, and returns in the evening with returned crates and signed documents, so be honest about a 6-day week.
What to put in the request
- Duties — delivery, preparing invoices, collecting payment, returning empties;
- Pay — fixed salary, plus a percentage of what is delivered, bonuses;
- Place of work — city and district, loading warehouse;
- Schedule — for example 6 days a week, 7 to 5;
- Cargo — exactly what and in what volumes;
- Paperwork — formal employment, contract;
- Experience — as a forwarder or sales representative;
- Licence — light motor vehicle or other, and whether the vehicle is the company's.
Example: “Cebu City and surrounding districts. Forwarder needed to deliver drinks to shops: receiving at the warehouse, invoices, returning empty crates. Valid driving licence, 1+ year of experience, 6 days a week, 7 to 5, salary ₱12,000 a month, formal employment.”
How to search on BlaBlaPrice
On the home page you describe the job in your own words, and the site picks the category itself. The request is checked, ads are removed and you get hints on what else to add. Forwarders from your region reply in chat, you compare and choose the most suitable; contacts open only to the chosen ones. More on the How it works page.
What to ask a candidate
Ask which invoices and software he has worked with, whether he has delivered similar cargo and how many stops a day he usually served. You can see this in the answers: an experienced forwarder will at once name a typical route and pace.
Agree on financial responsibility for the cargo, how cash is received, what to do if a customer refuses and who pays for fuel if he uses his own vehicle. For beginners, it helps to spend a few days with a mentor.
If delivery is hard, for example many floors without a lift, say so plainly to avoid complaints later.
