A console is a small computer, and it is repaired like one
PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch have a processor, memory, a cooling system and a power supply. Typical problems: overheating and noise, no picture, a broken HDMI port, a disc that will not read, a controller that will not charge, stick drift. Not all of them are equally hard, so the price can easily differ several times over.
Often the cause is simpler than it seems: radiators clogged with dust, dried thermal paste, a worn connector. But a “white screen” or a failed chip is a case for a technician with soldering equipment.
