How to hire a plumber: water supply, drainage, heating
Different plumbers, different jobs
A plumber on a new building lays water and drainage lines through the whole flat and fits manifolds, filters and meters. A plumber with a maintenance company is quicker at fixing leaks and replacing risers. Heating is a separate profile: boilers, radiators, underfloor heating. A call-out plumber handles a hundred small tasks and needs speed and good manners with customers. So first decide what exactly you need.
What to include in the vacancy
- Type of work — water and drainage layout, fitting sanitaryware, heating, replacing risers.
- Pay — per day, per point or per site, for example ₱760 a day.
- Work location — city and area, for example Quezon City.
- Schedule — six days a week, 9 am to 6 pm, or on-call duty.
- Type of employment — permanent on sites, per project, call-outs.
- Experience — in years and the materials they have worked with: CPVC, PVC, copper, multilayer pipe.
- Tools — their own (pipe cutter, wrenches, pipe-fusion machine) or the company's.
Example request
“A renovation company in Quezon City needs a plumber for permanent work on sites. Laying water and drainage lines in flats, fitting concealed cisterns and mixers. Six days a week, 9 am to 6 pm, pay ₱760 a day. At least 3 years' experience, own tools, own transport.”
How it works on BlaBlaPrice
You write your request once, without choosing a category. It is checked for ads and contact details, and you are prompted to add important details. Then plumbers in your area reply in the chat: experience, expected pay, start date. BlaBlaPrice shows the strongest replies first, and the candidate's reviews are visible next to them. Your phone number stays hidden, and you pay nothing for the search. More on the page “How it works”.
How to judge a plumber
Ask whether the candidate can fit concealed cisterns for wall-hung toilets and shower drains: this is not basic level, and the rate for such work is different.
Ask about the materials the person works with and how they test the system: pressure testing before the walls are closed shows leaks while they are still easy to fix. A good craftsman always prints out the layout and agrees the position of the points before chasing the walls.
Also ask whether the candidate handles meters and connecting appliances and is ready to come out for an emergency call. For electrical connections nearby you will need an installer, and for tiling the bathroom a tiler.
